Anyone know when unRAID 6.4 will be ready?
The next version of unRAID will be 6.4. I have been waiting for this as it lets you assign each docker a separate IP address. That seems very useful as that way you don't have to worry about using funky port assignments as pretty much every docker wants to use ports like 80, 8080 and 443. And this way you could even use a hosts file on your local PC so you don't even have to remember the IP numbers.
But it seems to be taking a long, long time. Version 6.4.0-rc10b came out on Oct 28. That seems like a lot of release candidates. Anyone know whats up?

Don't know, and they won't tell you. It will just take as long as it takes. Seems they are adding fewer features to their "RC's" so might be "any day now?"

Personally I'm looking forward to the docker IP ability and SSL, but with the number of changes going in I'm all for them taking their time and getting it well tested! Now that I've gone fully unRAID I want to make sure things are stable. I probably won't even upgrade until a month or so after the official release. You can always use the RCs ![]()

When RC9 came out I decided to take the plunge an upgrade. Mainly because it fixed QEMU's incompatibility with the emulated Macintosh SMC. Makes running macOS VM's much easier.

Once 6.4 is out I might try it on some old hardware that I originally used when testing unRAID a year or so ago. I normally have some free time over the Christmas holidays so I often look for tech projects to do at that time, like building new PCs, etc.

Just be careful with the IP assignments. I am running the prerelease and with that feature enabled it crashes my server hard.

Good to know. Is bridge mode the way that you assign each docker to separate IP in 6.4?

I think it's bridge + pipework.

I think Pipework is the old method that isn't needed anymore in 6.4. There was also the macvlan method starting in 6.3.5.

You select br0 and then can use dhcp or fixed address for IPv4 and IPv6. I have only tried dhcp with both IPv4 and IPv6 enabled.

There has been a flurry or RC releases in the last few days:
rc11i on Wednesay rc12a on Friday rc13 on Saturday Hopefully those mean the final release is happening soon.

12 and 13 were to fix bug in the previous releases - so I doubt it unless it was intended that 11 was the final version before the bugs were found.

A couple of weeks later we are on RC14 but who knows when the final release will be. As far as I can tell this is an unusually long time between versions as it is now over 10 months since 6.3.0 was released.

I don't have experience with previous beta cycles but they seemed to indicate from the beginning that this would be a quick cycle. There have probably been some developments like the Ryzen issue that have probably been extending things.

Seems there's some serious changes in this version, so I'm not surprised it's taking a long time. |

That's true - if I read correctly a lot of the web UI is changing. As mentioned above I am really looking forward to the ability to have each docker have its own IP.

That's really what I was thinking of, all the IP/SSL stuff seems like pretty substantial changes. I'm going to have to read up on that before I upgrade, it sounds nice, but I don't want to break everything just on update (I assume not, that the SSL stuff is optional).

I've been using the RC's since RC9 and I haven't had any trouble with any of them. I don't have a Ryzen so I don't have the low power related idle lockup problems.

I just resolved a minor problem with my Ubiquiti Unifi Docker that I wouldn't have had with 6.4 as it was using an additional port for communications that wasn't set up by default.

I believe either v5 or v 6.0 was about 2 years before it made it out of beta and rc releases.
