Stupid Question

Ok, so we’ve only ever been extender users in my house. I’ve done almost nothing directly on the server up till now. Lately I’ve been testing things with Phoenix from the server. For some reason I can’t get fanart to display there. It displays fine on extenders.

What step am I missing to enable fanart to display on my server?

I'm not quire sure what you mean... since my server is headless... ie, I can never see a UI. But, to get fanart to display, you might want to check that the fanart central folder is specified correctly for that client (which is now the server).

My server is an extra workstation that has monitor etc so I can access the server directly and pull up the sage/phoenix ui. While I've been messing around with menus and such I've been using the server directly to avoid too much interference with normal TV operation.

I can't find a setting on my server/client where I can specify the central fanart directory. That's the part that's getting me... Where is this option from within Phoenix...

There are 2 things that you can try....

1. Shut down the server and the see if there is a SageClient.properties and if so, edit that file and search for fanart and see if you can find the fanart directory in there. If so remove that property and it should now use the main Server.properties value.

2. You can try to use the plugin configuration for Phoenix Core and see if you can set the Central fanart using that way. I have a user reporting that they cannot set the central fanart using the plugin configuration, so it may be broken

Everything seems copacetic on my server/client... I checked in the phoenix config area of the plugin and my central fanart folder is listed there. I also check the properties files and it's listed there too. For some reason though the Phoenix UI will not show posters, banners and the other pieces of fanart.

I still can't get any of the posters/banners or wall art to display... I figured that maybe if I installed Diamond that I could get it to work. It seems that Diamond can't access my fanart either...

Any ideas on how I can get fanart to show from my server? It makes no sense to me. I would think that either Diamond or Phoenix UI's would enable fanart by default. I don't need some other plugin do I?

I have moved my fanart folder from default area. Not sure if that would make any difference. It currently resides: C:\Fanart. Should that make any difference?

It shouldn't matter, as long as you've updated the fanart location to be C:\Fanart from the web ui.

zip up your logs/ directory and email them to metadatatools at gmail dot com. I'll take a look and see if I can see anything.

just send me the logs directory... it has a bunch of logs... typically, I'm after phoenix.log which will log some information about fanart, etc.
