HVR-1600 Degrading

I have an HVR-1600 that I'm using to tune the analog cable channels (an HDHR takes care of the HD stuff). Recently, the signal has been degrading until it's basically unwatchable. Right now, it basically plays for one second, then stops, then plays for another second. I've tried reinstalling the card, remapping the channels, and moving the card to a new slot on the computer and the problem is fixed for a few hours, then comes back. I'm thinking it's an issue with the card itself. Any ideas on how to further troubleshoot it?

Well lets see, I updated drivers, multiple rescans, connected a different antenna input that feeds my perfectly working HD homerun, switched PCI slots.... still nothing on any channel. If you have any ideas, let me know cause I can retrieve it from somewhere in my basement and try some more.

I would try uninstalling, reboot and reinstalling the 1600 drivers. I think hauppuage has an uninstall utility that you may want to give a try. Also, one time I thought my 1600 was going bad and it was a failing hard drive.

I had degradation when testing my tuners for playback. Basically what would happen is I would tune to a channel and check it for artifacts ,stop the play back and then tune to another channel.

Sometimes the picture was clear as a bell and most of the time it had artifacts or a really degraded picture.

I thought it was the tuners since I have a 2250 and 1600 installed. Turns out it was the Commercial detector plugin I had installed.

In other words when I would tune to a channel and start watching it for clarity, the commercial detector would end up kicking on when I stopped playback . So when I tuned to another channel, the comskip would be chewing up a lot of my resources each time I tuned to a new channel and would get worse and worse.

I finally played with the commercial detector settings and set run more slowly - runs comskip with the --playnice parameter to true as well and that seemed to fix my degradation.

I have no idea if this will fix anyone elses problem but thought I would throw it out there since no one mentioned it yet.
