HVR-1600

I ordered a PVR-150 to use with SageTV, but Hauppauge substituted a HVR-1600. I got it working but the video is choppy. I have a Athon 2.4G processor with 512M ram, and I'm using the MediaMVP to drive the TV. The CPU usage is about 50% most of the time, but I have seen it as high as 95%. Note I got the HVR-1600 working with SageTV but I haven't been able to get the software that came with it working.

Has any else used the HVR-1600? Can anyone tell me what CPU usage the PVR-150 has with a similar setup?

If I cannot get it working better than this I am going to send it back.

Are you recording mpeg's - or something else? In general: the HVR-Tuner is a pretty new product, isn't it? Which means if there are driver issues it can potentially take several month to sort those out ..

It is very new. I believe I am using mpg2 format (DVD setup).

I just took the HVR-1600 card out and put in an old WinTV (no hardware encoding) card it. It looks better and is about the same on CPU usage (50%).

I bought a PVR 150 from Frys Electronics in the box was a HVR 1600.
I can't get the software that came with it to work either. But I did get sage to work with analog cable and hd over the air, then it stopped working when i added another tuner. I am going to end up returning it for a regular pvr 150 or go for something else.

see other 1600 thread

Hi

check this thread

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...light=hvr+1600

seems to suggest sage currently needs settings tweak on properties file to enable hardware encoding. Software encoding is maybe why you're getting choppiness

My HD recordings are .mpg files. I'm new to HD, but I was expecting .ts files. Am I just confused, or is something weird going on?

I think this is fixed in the new beta release...I don't have the HVR-1600, so can't check, but seems like the new RC fixes this problem-
