johnmilky your going have upgrade your video card to sometime a lot more powerfully more like the Radeon HD 3650 or 3850 and don't forget to upgrade your Power Supplies 450watt or better the best valve I have found Corsair CMPSU-650TX

The other thing you can do is get an HD Extender instead.

I am not sure about your first two issues/questions, but I may be able to help with the last two. At least these worked for me. I have two HVR-1600's up and running fine.

I too received good signals and all of my channels in WinTV, but nothing in SageTV. I played with this problem for a very, very, very long time. I am sure I have days invested into resolving this same issue. After dozens and dozens of scans, installing the hardware and software many, many times, I stumbled up on this post. I downloaded the file for Windows, and replaced the DShowCapture.dll file in my SageTV directly that installed with my clean install of SageTV v6.4.8 with the one I downloaded from the post. After that SageTV could scan and receive all of my Comcast clear QAM channels. It has been working great for a couple of months now.

I am not sure of your situation and may be missing the point of your question, but the card has two tuners. One is analog and one is digital. If you want to use both the analog and digital tuner you will need to hook up a cable to both. With Comcast in the Denver area, I get my analog channels (first 70 or so) on the analog tuner, and I get about 20 or so digital channels on the digital tuner. However, I only mapped the major networks channels on my digital tuners for viewing in SageTV.

I hope this helps.

Concerning the videro card, I personally like the ATI cards. I have a HDR2600 card, but if I had to do it today, I would probably get a passively cooled 4000 series card. For instance:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ATI/HD_4550_passive/.
They take a bunch of the load off your CPU and are silent.

You can buy (if not included) a dongle from ATI that converts the DVI port to an HDMI port. The cards have a sound chip installed on them and output encrypted surround sound over the HDMI.

Sorry to hear it did not work for you. It was my "holy grail" after having the same problem, and working on it off and on over several months. The only other thing I can think of, even though I am not sure if it really has an effect or not, is to make sure your Hauppauge WinTV 418 TS Capture-x-QAM.frq and QAMScan-Hauppauge WinTV 418 TS Capture-x.frq files are deleted before trying a new scan. I am assuming they were deleted when you did a clean install though. I know how frustrating it is to have the cards work fine with WinTV and not work in SageTV. If I think of anything else that helped me, I will let you know.

Good luck.

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the right post. I am not interested in QAM- only want to get ATSC locals. I get channels scanned ok but when i try to tune i get no signal. In windows media center they all come in at 100% signal and perfect picture.

Spent many hours searching posts with no luck.Lots of info for QAM but noting for ATSC over the air.

Thanks in advance.
