MVP and OTA HD using HVR-1600

I'm slowly converting to HD at my house and recently installed an HVR-1600 card to capture OTA HD local broadcasts. I have the source tuner setup and working properly. For the moment, I have a MediaMVP connected to my HD TV (I just ordered an STX HD100).

My question is... if the HVR-1600 captures the HD content as an MPEG2 file, why does sage need to transcode it to the MVP? When I try to play the content on the TV, the server CPU spikes to 100% and the playback skips and stutters. If I play the file on my PC, it is perfect.

I know my problem will be solved with the HD100... I just want to know why an these MPEG2s can't be played on the MVP.

Because the video frame is way too big, the MVP only supports MPEG2 at SD resolutions, your server is resizing the video.

You can for the time being or to use the MVP in the future transcode video to MPEG2 SD or MPEG4 SD using either the autocompress favorites plugin or the SJQ plugin.

Thanks Collin... I was guessing that the res was too high... I just didn't think the MVP had an issue with that.
