Time bar advances quickly (timelines corrupted)

I have a SageTV v7 (not beta) setup using 2 x HVR-2250's recording analog TV off of cable.

Occasionally a show will play fine, but the time bar will advance by 2 seconds-per-second, or more. The video content is in the file; however, because the time-bar advances so quickly, the show 'ends', before the end of the video.

I've seen this problem once before when using the PVR-500's; however, the fix (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18042) in this thread seemed to have made it go away.

Applying that fix doesn't seem to work with the HVR-2250.

Is anyone else having this problem? Or is it just me?

It's not just you. I have the same issue, albeit very infrequent. It seems to happen on the Food network and it's happened with both a 2250, and I *think* my 1850 as well. Makes. the. wife. p*&&#@.

I had (have?) the same problem with my 2250. I loaded an older driver as suggested here (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54033) and I haven't seen the problem since, but the older driver suggested here has issues with the audio after re-boot. The audio issues are a pain, so I've reloaded the newest driver but this time I used HWClear from Hauppauge which I neglected to used before. It's too early to tell if that has corrected the issue.

Using HWClear and reloading the latest driver seems to have fixed my problem. Any luck with yours?

How long and/or how may recordings have you made without a problem?

It's been a little over a week since I reloaded the driver and that would mean around 10-20 recordings on that tuner. I haven't seen the problem reloading the driver. That said, the problem was an intermittent one, so I'm not 100% sure.

I'm again having issues since I reloaded the newest driver from Hauppauge. There are times when I'm watching a recording from the beginning while it is still being recorded, and if I hit FF, the playback jumps back to the last spot before I began fast forwarding. In other words, if I try to fast forward while the tuner is still recording, it won't let me and jumps back to where I started.

I think I"m going to reload the old driver.

I've confirmed that this problem still exists after running HWClear and reinstalling the newest driver.

Dave S. Are you running showanalyzer or compskip while the show is still recording?

I'm not running any add ons or plugins at all, just Sage right out of the box. I've been experiencing some weird stuff. The time bar issues and also sometimes no sound with a recording, then if you hit stop and then play again, the sound is back. I'm puzzled, because I just built my server and Sage and related components are the only programs on it. I started with an unformatted drive, installed Win 7 and Sage and hardware related programs only. I wanted to keep all drivers up to date, but I'm going to use an older driver tonight and see what happens. I wish I was knowledgable enough in Windows, Sagetv and hardware to be able to diagnose and fix the issue. I find it hard to believe that the newest Hauppauge driver has issues that the older ones don't, and I believe there are other users using the newest driver successfully. I'm thinking it's something in my Sage setup, maybe a decoder or something, that's causing the problem, but I don't know how to tell.

Please confirm another piece of information I have found. It DOES NOT seem to happen on unencrypted HD QAM stations, only standard definition cable TV stations like food network and discovery.

Yes, I can confirm that. The digital recordings are ok, the issues are with the analog side of the tuner.

Did you reinstall the driver I posted on my google code site? I've had ZERO problems with that driver.

I reinstalled it last night. I had installed in a few weeks ago, and it did eliminate the timebar and other issues, but it did present an issue I remember having on my old server. That is, immediately after reboot, sometimes there was no audio until after the first channel change. That had never been a huge problem for me, because I always test each tuner immediately after rebooting. But, knowing I had that problem with this old driver, and this particular problem was not an issue with the newest driver, I gave the newest driver a second chance. After again experiencing the timebar and other issues with this newest driver, I've decided to stick with the older driver that you suggested (and that I used in my old server.)

I'll report back if I experience any timebar or other issues with this old driver, but I think you're right, it's mostly problem-free.
