HD-PVR settings

I hooked up an HD-PVR to record from my STB.

I understand that it can record at various resolutions (ie. 720p, 1080i etc)

I am wondering how do you control the resolution that the HD-PVR uses to record?

I also noticed that the sound seemed to lag the audio by about a second. Is there some way of addressing that?

Thanks.

I found by setting the STB to output 720p instead of 1080i the performance is now good.

But is there a way to tell the HD-PVR what to do? (video-wise and audio-wise)

No, the HD PVR records the resolution it's given.

Check out, "Setup", "Detailed Setup", "Video/Audio", "Audio Playback Delay (ms)" in the SageTV configuration GUI.

The HD-PVR seems to do very well when I configure my STB (Motorola 6200) to output 720p.

However, I've noticed that when it tunes to a channel that is broadcast in 480p/480i the video is noticeable slow (not smooth). Is there a way to fix that?

I found that my Motorola 6200 can be set to use "480 override" so that the stream is 480p when it is not 720p or 1080i.

This fixes the performance/quality problem on the lower resolution channels.

Although the Motorola 6200 provides this feature, the new Pace RG110s do not seem to have the same feature? What do you do on other boxes?
