Digital Guide Channels Wrong
Loading the extended digital guide for Comcast in Fremont, CA (94539)
There are several channels that are completely wrong (i.e. KQED is listed on channel 3 but is really on channel 9). I have checked zap2it and comcast's own listing -- they both agree. Why does SageTV get a different listing? What is the recommended way of correcting this problem? Last edited by sflamm; 04-08-2009 at 05:01 PM. |

It may depend on what tuner you configured and where the channel mappings came from -- if you have an HDHR, then its logical numbers could have been changed in the HDHR channel editor.
But, you can remap the logical channel numbers in Channel Setup. - Andy

I am mapping an HDHR to start with... (I also have an HVR2250)
However, the logical numbers have not been set in the channel setup. Only a subset of channels have been 'enabled'. I found the same thing happened when I tried to configure the HVR2250 digital receiver - brought down the same WRONG (lots of errors) channel guide. I tried the HVR2250 as an analog source and that guide is correct (and does NOT match the digital guide) It seems like I shouldnt have to remap so many channels... there is a problem with the source guide. Can you check the guide against zap2it? They dont match! Last edited by sflamm; 04-08-2009 at 05:37 PM. |

Did you do any remapping after scanning for digital channels with the 2250? If not, see the SageTV PDF manual's "Remapping Stations for EPG data using ATSC or QAM Digital Tuners" section, starting on p. 164.
And, for proper HDHR setup & channel mapping, see HDHR setup for Windows. - Andy

I remapped them all. It took me several hours as they were way off.
I thought I should have been able to use the map from the HDHR for the HVR2250, as they see/tune the same digital frequencies. Not sure why that didnt work but it didnt. Knowing all the HDHR frequencies and having the HDHR mapping handy (through the HDHR tool) did speed the process up quite a bit and I recommend that to anyone. Map your HDHR first and then your HVR 2250 |

All you have to do is set up the HDHR first, then copy & rename the HDHR's .scn file(s) for the other digital tuners that are to tune the exact same channels. When the other digital tuners scan for channels in SageTV, they will use their .scn files. You just have to know what file names to use for the other digital tuners, but that can be found easily by seeing what was used for their .frq files the first time around when SageTV did a native scan. This is mentioned briefly as one of the tips in the instructions I linked in a post above.

Can you explain your steps in more detail? I don't believe I understand...
I looked at the .frq files and they have all the same contents for the 2 HDHR and 2 HVR2250 digital tuners: QAMScan-Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1010F092-0-0.frq (these frequencies do not appear to match the ones in the files below) QAMScan-Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1010F092-1-0.frq QAMScan-Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog Capture-1.frq QAMScan-Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog Capture-0.frq but there is another with contents I dont understand: Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog Capture-0-QAM.frq (I believe this was generated when I checked out if the HVR2250 analog tuner was working - it was) and 4 others that look like they were produced : Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1010F092-1-0-QAM.scn (appears to be channel map from HDHR setup) Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1010F092-1-0-QAM.frq (appears to be frequency map created by SageTV from corresponding .scn) Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1010F092-0-0-QAM.scn (appears to be channel map from HDHR setup) Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1010F092--0-QAM.frq (appears to be frequency map created by SageTV from corresponding .scn) There do not appear to be .scn files at all for the HVR2250 tuners, only the HDHR. (THIS IS CONFUSING!) Can you explain to me what is what here? Not sure I have it correct. I have noticed that there are 1-2 channel the HVR-2250 picked up that were not picked up by the HDHR... but they werent anything important so I could ignore them. The HDHR software creates the .scn files; I'm not sure whether any other tuner creates those files. When SageTV sees a .scn file, it uses the data it contains as the scanning info during a channel scan instead of trying to do the scan itself. During the channel scan, SageTV creates the .frq file.
So, essentially, you copy the .scn file from the HDHR tuner & give it a base name for another digital tuner that is to tune the exact same channels, then you set up that tuner in SageTV the same way that you would configure an HDHR tuner, including doing the channel scan in Channel setup. - Andy

So even though SageTV never creates .scn files itself, it will still use one even if the tuner is not an HDHR?
If I understand correctly - that's a great tip! and totally unexpected behavior. never would have suspected. |
