Washington DC EPG Guide Wrong
I don't know if something hasn't been updated or what, but the Washington DC data on Zap2It (the normal webpage) is right, but the information from SageTV is wrong. It includes duplicate channels, listing types that shouldn't be there (i.e. 4 options to choose from instead of 2 as for provider), etc.
Basically rendering the EPG unusuable since there are 2 listings for a large number of the channels...and you can't disable one, it generally disables both of them when you try that. |

Did some tests with Zap2It and it seems that their lineup is correct...so is there a method to completely wipe the info which SageTV retains? Possibly from old recordings, or something to that effect, regarding channel numbers?

I've now wiped all my .properties, and my wiz files, and tried that. Didn't help.
I've also tried downloading the EPG data from GBPVR, and it comes up fine. So this is specifically a SageTV issue. |

You can also let SageTV know about EPG problems by emailing them at info@sagetv.com. Along with the details of what is wrong, include:
Your Service Provider (i.e. Comcast, DirecTV, etc) Your Specific Lineup (Chicago-Digital, Chicago-Digital Rebuild, etc) Your Zip Code - Andy

Just sent a mail. It's 100% Sage. I was under the impression that Sage got it's info from Zap2It but I guess it's actually obtained from the Sage site since Zap2It is correct and has no issues whatsoever.
This kind of blows my testing out of the water. |

Any SageTV users in Wash. DC?
Anyone else using Sage in Washington DC and manage to overcome the latest channel shifts by comcast? Just wondering how you did it becaue right now things are...well...really not good within my EPG .

I'm not sure how automatically SageTV handles channel lineup updates. I'd periodically check http://www.zap2it.com/ to see when they have updated to the new line up, and then redo the tuner source setup. Until zap2it's guide data is updated, you can remap channels to the new channel numbers in the channel setup.
I've gone through a couple of lineup changes with TiVo and there is almost nothing you can do but wait it out. However, the last time it happend I knew the new channels matched those of the town next to us, so I redid the setup using that town's zip code. |

No, Zap2It is updated. It's Sage's server that's screwed for some reason. I threw in the Zap2it direct grab plugin to get the info I needed for the EPG. The only thing screwey is the is it a rerun or first run flag.
And I can't remap because it's showing 2 channels for one 'station' and they are linked for some oddball reason. *shrug* It's working ok now until they fix it, but this is kind of a huge thing for anyone in the DC area. Took me awhile to figure out the workaround. BTW, sorry, I meant to post that above post into the general/community discussion area. Figured it got more traffic and someone might actually see it from DC. |

Well, I'm in Alexandria and haven't had any problems. We have Cox down here though.

Yeah, it's due to the recent change Comcast made in their lineups.

I haven't noticed any problem. My fiancee just noticed that the food network channel number had changed, which was the only reason I know there were lineup changes. As far as we know SageTV smoothly incorporated the changes in the lineup.
That said, we're not heavy users of the EPG screen, so perhaps it is screwed up in some way and we just didn't notice. |

Which lineup are you using?

Comcast Digital Cable Rebuild and Comcast Rebuild.

Very strange. Both of those listings WERE working for me, but then they got removed from Zap2It (I know from using a login for another program Im testing) and changed to Comcast Cable and Comcast Digital cable. There is no rebuild anymore.
That and those two lineups only have about a dozen channels listed in them now (Noticed when no recordings were scheduled when I knew they should be). Very interesting though. I've reinstalled sage, so...it's not some kind of cached thing...I would hope. |

You're making me nervous .
I'll double-check my guide data tonight and report back. It's possible that I survived this far due to having the data downloaded prior to its disappearance. |

This might be the case. I didn't install until right after the change occured.

Ok, you're on to something.
The rebuild lineups are missing channels between 47 and 100. Lame. The non-rebuild lineups appear to be mostly, but not completely correct. The good news is that Sage will allow us to remap channel numbers to overcome Comcast's ineptitude. The bad news is that this is a hassle, and I've already screwed up my IR data too much trying to discover channels within SageTV. I'm going to take SageTV offline and play with my cable box for a while to figure out what Comcast is actually doing with each (!) channel. One interesting note is that the local digital channels appear to be present in the digital domain and available to my cable box. Comcast may have royally screwed up their guide data, but the channels are there. This is good news because there are extra digital channels, and because the digital channels are cleaner video coming out of the cable box than those under 100. Argh. No rest for the weary when babysitting even the best of PVRs in the face of a bad Comcast office. BTW, so far I see no reason to suspect SageTV software nor the SageTV hosting of the Zap2It data is to blame here. |

Here's what I'm finding on the digital side through the cable box (we subscribe to HBO). I have yet to reconcile this with the Zap2It lineup.

It's not as bad as I thought.
I think the list is fine, with the possible exceptions of anything between or including 200 and 275. If you don't know alread, please realize that SageTV downloads guide data in the background on a schedule. If you think the guide data might be wrong, or you're impatient, you can trick it into updating by going to the Channel Setup menu for the source in question and toggling one of the channels. This instigates a guide data update. |

It seems that it's been corrected now. Might have been a lag thing on the Sage servers with old and new data coexisting for EPG. Works perfect for me now, but we only have extended basic.
