Suggestions to fix a sound problem?
I'm currently using 6.2.4 with AC3Filter for my audio codec. My recordings are a mix of mpeg2, h.264 (with mp3 sound) and HD with AC3 sound. Every time I play an HD file, I have to shut down Sage and restart to get audio from any other file type. I'm looking for the best combination to be able to just switch without having to shut down.
I think the problem is that my external receiver (via SPDIF) isn't be re-initialized to tell it the new signal isn't AC3. |

I was already using 1.45b. I set the re-initialize even though it gives a warning. I haven't had time to play with it tonight, but I also didn't have the .ax file in the sagetv folder. Do you really need that?

I have a question about audio and this thread looked like a possible place to ask.
I'm using a HDHomeRun and a Hauppauge analog TV card. At one time I had audio for both, now, I don't have any audio with the Hauppauge tuned channels. Obviously something has changed but I have no idea what, I haven't physically changed anything in the Sage settings so I'm wonder if anyone can point me to where to look to solve the problem. |

OK, I set all that up and most problems are resolved, but if I watch an HD program with AC3 and then an h.264 program that is using mp3 as the audio format I get no sound for the h.264. I believe this is because AC3Filter is not being used for the h.264 video and thus doesn't re-init the sound card. The only reason I'm using mp3 for the sound is that I'm using EvilPenguin's compressions to get rid of the commercials and when I try to change the audio settings, I get a file that won't play at all.
(By the way, I'm currently using ffdshow to decode the h.264 video. If I change to using sageplayer, will that fix it?) |

I've found a solution, but it's one I'm not happy with. If I change the audio decoder to something that doesn't pass through AC3, then the sound card doesn't need to re-initialize. I guess that it's worth it for the kids and wife so that they don't have to shutdown Sage and re-start just to get the sound back.
