Sound Problem - More Quality Issues
Hello - I'm not sure what the problem is here but sometimes I notice that the sound on some shows I recorded sounds really bad. It sounds like static and as if one is listening to the show in a tunnel or something. What's interesting is that the same show (a series) recorded on another day might play just fine with the same tuner. It's not limited to the channel. I have 2 Win TV 500 cards in my computer doing the capture from Satellite DirecTV. Any ideas? I'm still trying to improve the sound and video. Sometimes there are also strange waves on the video as well but the sound can be pretty bad at times. I'm capturing at 2.4 gb/hour but I don't notice a difference even at 3.2 gb/hour.
Thanks, Mike |

Is your volume bar almost to the top like mine just to hear audio? Are some channels so quiet that you have to crank to full and then get blown out of the house when you switch channels? If so...let me know what you find out. Those are my issues with audio. |

yes it was definately worse at peaks. all the channels have even volume, and every other recordings are fine, it was just this one recording.

I don't know if this is useful or not, but I'll ramble on anyway just in case. I had a recorded show a few months ago that had very bad sound problems similar to yours. It was just that episode. Everything else seemed fine. Unfortunately for me, the episode was the season finale of Lost, so I had to do something about it. I think restarting Sage didn't change anything, but then I rebooted the computer and all was fine. In my case it was (thankfully) some kind of playback issue.
You could try a couple of things to sort out if it is a bad recording or a playback issue. You can try a different audio decoder and see if it makes a difference. Also to rule out Sage entirely, you can use another player to test the recording. I use zoom player for this, but I'm sure there are a number of other players that would work equally well. Hope this helps a little. Good luck. Aloha, Mike

I also periodically have this problem but have found no way to predict, reproduce or avoid it. For me it mostly happens on History Channel or Discovery channel. The only kludge I have found is to search for another airing of the show and try again.

i might try scheduling a restart each day to see if that fixes the problem.
