5.1 Passthrough
Is there any hope of getting 5.1 passthrough enabled on the linux placeshifter. I am currently using a all in one solution which has the server running on it and also a client. it is hooked up to a audio receiver which can decode the 5.1 so I am all setup I just need this last step. I know the intention of the placeshifter is to not be dependent on anything but it would be nice to get this added.

I think you should be able to choose the output by modifying the audio_render property and setting it to "-ao alsa:device=spdif".

Where do I set that property? I have in the GUI set the Audio out to SPDIF which did not seem to help. I do not see it listed in the /opt/sagetv/server/clients/ClientMac.properties or in the ~/.sagetv/SagePlaceshifter.properties

This should go in the SagePlaceshifter.properties.

Did you ever get this resolved. It seems i asked a similar question but i guess i didn't phrase it correctly. This is the same problem i am having when i have server and client on the same box and when i try to increase/decrease the volume of even mute it nothing happens.
