Hello,
I upgraded to SageTV 9.2.1 yesterday morning ... both USB-UIRTs stopped changing channels after the upgrade. All recordings on all the wrong channels yesterday I'll try restoring yesterdays backup with SageTV 9.1.9.778 and then use those wiz.bin files too I would like to upgrade later, but I'm not sure where to start the troubleshooting if all recordings are / were wrong. tried recording eight shows this morning ... no channel changes attempted ... Thanks for your time, Bobby

Sorry every one
Hello
looks like I got the 64 bit version ... I'm so used to automatically downloading 64 bit versions of software I got the wrong one ... my bad, I Apologize forgot I was on the 32 bit version of SageTV on Windows 7 64 bit ... I'll install the 32bit version tomorrow ... and test it before I leave it alone ... Thank you KryptoNyte I'll post the startup sagetv_0.txt file from yesterday morning if that helps anyone with future debugging. SageTV kept reporting it couldn't find COM0 when trying to tune recordings Thank you for your time and help, Bobby

I seem to recall mention in the latest 64 bit installer that it asks you during the installation if you want to include support for the USB-UIRT. I would recommend sticking with the 64 bit version if you can get it to work, maybe uninstall and then reinstall with the support for USB-UIRT. I assume that you'll still need to completely configure your tuners and USB-UIRT tuning after the install.
Probably better read up on this, because you'll likely want to migrate your wiz.bin file also so 64 bit Sage already knows your watched shows and such. I do know that if you have both installed, to make sure that they never run at the same time, including the service autostart if you use that. |

I updated to 9.2.1 but chose to stick with 32-bit for now since I'm planning on overhauling my entire set up over the summer, so I didn't think the USB-UIRT thing would be a problem.
I'm unable to change channels since the update, and I've tried with the original uuirtdrv.dll, the original uuirtdrv.dll + the uu_irsage.dll, and the 64-bit uuirtdrv.dll + the uu_irsage.dll, and have the same problem in all cases - no channel changing. And when I look at my video sources, it shows the path (in x86) to uu_irsage.dll in the list (based on the original config) but when I try to "Change Tuning Device" the list is empty.

I have the same problem. I forget which 9.x I came from, but the newest 9.2.1 will not change channels anymore on my IR.
I'm going to restore from a backup. Does anyone have the older installers tucked away anywhere? |

Did anyone ever find a fix for this? Just did an update for the first time in years and now my USB-UIRT won't tune channels. Running SageTV 32 bit.
I tried swapping the various DLL's (one was missing from the install process), but still no go. Going to have to do a system restore soon if I can't find a fix. |

In this case I uninstalled the 64 bit and went back to 32 bit
In my previous case I lost the usb-uirts because of Windows Here’s that old rant. My next SageTV installs were to c:\SageTV\ If a program is installed to a “program files” directory (SageTV or others) Windows does funky things with the files in c:/program files/SageTV/ Windows 7+ splatters them into different directories program data, roaming and others under your user profile. I lost tuning because SageTV would ask for the file with the pronto codes under the common files directory and windows would look in five or six place elsewhere on the hard drive. C:/users/something/something/something Frey technologies at the time didn’t give any answers, but later people started realizing what was happening. Currently I have SageTV installed under c:\SageTV so windows will try to protect you from yourself by splattering the files into random designated locations making it very difficult to diagnose. Get a second opinion on the next part If someone can tell you were you need to copy the files to under the program data directory or your user directory that would be easier. So “ simple answer “ after rant ... backup your sage.properties and wiz.bin files. Backup the whole SageTV directory under program files to a new place. (Including common files and such) Remove SageTV via add or remove install SageTV to c:\SageTV\* Copy your wiz.bin file to I think it will be c:\SageTv\SageTV\ You might be able to drop the sage.properties file there too, but you may need to re-run the wizard and setup tuners and recording directories. Then copy in needed pronto code files to their directories with John rhees updated dll for multiple usb-uirts if needed Probably a few steps I’ve forgotten ... so definitely a second opinion. Hope this helps Bobby Ps if you can find out the directories in the user directory that the common files are being looked for ... that would be your simplest and fastest solution.

Keeping the right USB-UIRT dlls in the right place has been a challenge of mine since sage went open source. I now (finally!) have both 32 bit and 64 bit versions working.
The files uu_irsage.dll in sageTV/common are both from 9.2.2. I am not sure where I got the files uuirtdrv.dll in SysWOW64 (32 bit!) and System 32 (64 bit!). I tried many sources before it was working <sigh> (all from either the forum or from a sage install). I've attached them for you to test. I've sometimes had to reboot to get the 64 bit working after the 32 bit. YMMV -- backup, backup, backup!!! (Let me know if you don't know where they go.)

Thanks, that was indeed my problem and I managed to fix it yesterday. The new installer deleted uu_irsage.dll on my system. I found a post with a copy of the DLL but it didn't work. I realized that the DLL I downloaded was 64 bit, but I needed the 32 bit DLL.
I checked one of my backups and grabbed the original 32 bit uu_irsage.dll and everything works again. Seems like there is a bug in the installer. |
