Clarification of Disk Space usage rule(s)?

Hi,

I am trying to move my sagetv setup onto an unRaid/Docker setup, and so I want to be able to tell sage to stop recording to a certain disk (I have 6 drives in my sage box) while I move all the recorded shows to my new unraid box, then I will move the hard-drive to my new unraid box, expand the pool, and do it all over again with the next drive.

My issue is that when I set my unraid pool to be "Use Only 0.0GB" in Sagetv, it decided to go through and erase everything I had moved over to the unraid pool.

So, what I am looking for is how do these flags work? I've had this happen once before where sagetv started deleting everything on a drive, and it has to do with these drive flags.

Is there a specific order or a specific combination that will trigger a complete deletion of everything on that given drive/share? If so, what would it be?

Thanks,

I suppose what I want to know can be distilled down to 2 questions:

1) How do I safely transition a drive from "Leave 20GB free" to "Use only 0.0GB"

2) How do I safely transition a drive from "Use only 0.0GB" to "Leave 20GB free"

These are the 2 operations that I tend to do to my drives/shares, to either allow a drive to be writable or not.

Or, should I mount my R/O drives under Media Import drives, then I don't have to worry about this?

I think that this is what you want to do. I believe if a recording is not marked as an archive or a favorite has auto delete set to yes the recording is open for deletion to meet got space rules whenever the clean up thread runs.

I’m guessing you have the Auto Delete parameter set to YES on your favorites. This lets Sage delete recordings to make room when you run low on space. I prefer to set this to NO and manage the space myself. Then it is safe to do what you did (I usually just tell Sage to keep more space free than I actually have to avoid recording to that drive).
