install issues in linux 9.1.7.581

hi,

I have installed both the server & placeshifter ( so I have a gui for setup) on linuxmint 18.2 cinnamon 64 bit. the issue i am having is configuring the capture cards/ video source. I can see the 4 instances ( I have 2 hauppauge 2255 cards. I chose them & went through the motions. I am using ota & schedules direct as my default located in canada. it goes through all the hoops etc & seems fine until i select a channel. It will tune in but whig in & out ( appear/disappear) I suspect it is a permission issue. The other error is 2 appearances of the message ( one for each card?) ¨ No EPG Server LIcense Key Specified ¨ I dont know how to fix this. Still a beginner level user of linux.

What user name are you running SageTV as? Make sure they are a member of the video group.

Edit the file /etc/group and add the user on to the end of the line. Use : as a separator.

I was able finally get things working! I went through client on same pc as the server. After back & forth between that & client one was able to figure this setup configuration.
