Aspect Ratio Doesn't stick
Lately I've been noticing that my picture is wider than the screen and it get's cut off on both sides. I need to click the Apect Button on the remote to change it to the correct ratio every time i play a different recorded TV show. I don't see any option to set this globally so it's becoming a real pain. I don't remember ever having this problem before.
I am running Sage TV version 6.x on an old 4x3 TV. Any ideas why this is occurrring and what's changed?

You didn't mention if this was on a computer client or an extender, but you posted in the extender forum so I'll assume this is an issue on one of your extenders. A couple things to check:
First, boot the extender in stand alone mode (don't connect to Sage server) and verify the aspect ratio and allowed resolutions are correctly set in the settings menu. Then, connect the extender to the Sage server. Under the settings menu somewhere (General? I don't remember V6 that well) is another display aspect ratio setting. Set this appropriately. Finally, under settings and multimedia (I think) is the Aspect Ratio Mode where you can set the aspect ratio to source vs zoom etc. I believe you want 4x3 here. That's all I can think of at the moment, good luck. BTW, you should update to V7, it's free with your V6 license and well worth it for the UI improvements plus access to some terrific plugins. |

complete restore
I've had this problem with two separate HD200's. Eventually (about 6-9 months later) they quit working altogether. I had to restore the firmware as directed in the operation manual and then download and upgrade it to the latest. I think this is called a "factory reset" or something like that.
This was a last ditch effort btw because I was about to toss the HD200 when it first happened until I discovered this fix. Roy
