HD-PVR aspect ratio

I have for years had 2 hd-pvrs hooked up to my dish network receivers and have never had an ideal match on my picture size. It all ways displays to big on my TV's. I have tried over those years to make it match better. When I record over the air shows they all seem to play fine, so that tells me that my hd 300 is ok on aspect ratio. It seems to be with recording HD channels on the hd-pvr's. Is there any adjustment in the hd-pvr's? I have changed my dish receivers out put setting, but still does not help. I am at a loss as what else to change. Does anyone have any idea for settings that I can change on the record side of the hd-pvr's to help match the picture better on the tv's?
Thanks
Wayne

It is possible, But where do I change it at? I have tried to do a search on the hd-pvr setup and cannot seem to find any info on internal settings of the hd pvr. In my satellite receiver all I can see is 2 settings for output, 1 for 720 and 1 for 1080

Thanks
Wayne

The HD-PVR will assume all input is 16:9 aspect ratio. it will tag it as such. So, if your DTB is tuned to an HD station, you need to have the STB set to proper widescreen. If you are tuned to an SD station, you need to have the STB set to pillar-box, so that what goes into the HD-PVR is still expected to be 16:9. There are zoom controls on the dish STB to adjust this, and once set to a certain mode for HD channels, and a certain mode for SD channels, it will remember it. Then, setting SageTV to playback 'SOURCE' aspect ratio will keep everything correct.

Well, I think I have it fixed. I called dish network and talked to tech support and one of the first things he said was, did you try pushing the * button on the remote control and I said what button and he said the star button *. Well that seems to have fixed my issue as near as I can tell. It changes the output signal. I guess I never figured it would be on the remote and that button.
