Differing behavior when fast forwarding?

I've had a pair of HD200s for a long time, and I've noticed that sometimes the behavior when skipping forward 10 seconds differs. I'm using the small skip forward button on the remote.

Sometimes it immediately skips forward 10 seconds, no waiting at all. Sometimes it shows me a super fast version of what happened in the interim, it takes about a second, and then I'm live again. I haven't been able to tell what influences which I get. I do seem to get the same one repeatedly for a specific recording, so it feels like there's something about the file which causes it.

Any ideas? I'm curious because if it's something I have control over, there are times when I would want the super fast forward version, and times when I would want the skip version, and it'd be nice to be in control.

Skipping or fast forward are controlled by the remote for each device. Assuming you're using the same remote and you have not modified the remote key mapping in the software for each:

1) Is your JVM heap size set to something higher than default? Because you're running extenders, they use server RAM for graphics and such. It sounds like your system could be bogged down.

2) Is the behavior different per source? Eg. HDPVR vs OTA/QAM tuner?
