Back From Home
When you re watching a program and hit Home you are presented with the Home Menu and the screen is playing small in the upper right. Anyway previously if you hit the Back key you would go back to the full screen show playing. I got stuck here the other night and had to stop the program I was watching and start it back where I left off.
Is this an oversight or some fundamental change here? Thanks, Neil |

This is the problem I was talking about in this thread.
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59163 Although this partially solves the problem you should be able to click the back arrow at the top of the screen to close the menu, and this seems to be broken. |

I will test the Play button but going back would be ideal as it has been the natural way to return for me since about 2000
Thanks, Neil |

CNTL + V on a keyboard goes back to full screen video as well and I thought the live TV button on a remote will do the same, could be wrong though...

back should work as long as it is not set to be the live widget key. change that to Watch and then back should have the default behavior.

That still does no address the issue of the on screen back button in the top left corner does not back out of the menu when clicked on with the mouse. I haven't played with gemstone enough to see what causes the ui to get into this state, it doesn't do it all of the time put it does it frequently.

Ah! I assumed you meant the back key not the mouse icon. We can fix the mouse icon issue. Please open a issue for this so we don't forget.

I just tried the mouse click on the back arrow in the top left of the main menu with full screen video playing in the background and it goes back to the OSD for video playback... Not sure why your mouse click doesn't work. Any other plugins installed that might effect this?

I've noticed that the back button works on some screens and not on others. For example, the back [mouse] button does not work on the standard Wall Flow, but does work on the standard Folders view.

I believe we have an issue logged regarding the back button on the flows. Separate issue from the main menu issue when you try to return to video playback.

Finally had time to play with the gemstone back icon buton issue. It is simple to initiate this feature, when watching a video right-click select main menu. The back button icon, will not close the main menu. The only way out is to stop play back and restart video.

I have the widget action button set as "watched" and while playing a video I tried the following,
1. Right clicked to bring up the OSD Menu. 2. Selected "Main Menu" to display the main menu. 3. Left Click on the back arrow in the top left of the main menu returns to full screen playback. Then, 1. Right clicked to bring up the OSD Menu. 2. Selected "Main Menu" to display the main menu. 3. Used the "Back" or "Backspace" keyboard key, there is no return to full screen playback. Then, 1. Right clicked to bring up the OSD Menu. 2. Selected "Main Menu" to display the main menu. 3. Used the "Left Arrow" keyboard key, returns to full screen playback. Then, 1. Right clicked to bring up the OSD Menu. 2. Selected "Main Menu" to display the main menu. 3. Used the CTRL + V keyboard keys, returns to full screen playback. So just to clarify, as there seems to be a couple issues being mentioned here, the only issue seems to be the use of the "Back" keyboard key on the main menu with background video playing not returning to full screen video. Correct? I am still not able to duplicate your issue of clicking on the back arrow in the top left of the main menu while live video plays "not" returning me to full screen playback. What am I missing??? EDIT: @gclayto: Try setting the widget action key to "watched", if it is set to "left" the click on the back arrow does not seem to work. From the main menu go to the widget manager, then customize and set the action key to "watched". Last edited by jorton; 10-22-2012 at 09:45 PM. |

I didn't want to start a new thread for this.... I am experiencing issues with the mouse and moving BACK in only two of the flows (no widgets enabled). When I enter WALL or FANART flows, clicking the upper left triangle does not return me to the previous menu. I have to use the keyboard. In fact it seems the mouse does not work with the entire menu bar across the top (containing the back triangle, window size and sleep icons) only within those two flows (for me anyway). I did search for mouse issues on the Gemstone project page and found no reference to this exact issue, which is why I thought I'd toss it in here. Should I (can I?) add this to the Issues page?
Really appreciate all the work you guys do! Bobby

I am guessing that some of the functionality is not very mouse friendly - I know in Diamaond that the Wall flows did not allow you to select a video by clicking on it. It could be great if this was fixed, particularly since it will also facilitate using Sage with touchscreens which should become more prevalent as Win8 is rolled out and the Surface x86 tablet is released. It also facilitates using something like Splashtop to RDP from an iPad to a PC running Sage.

Getting Gemstone working with a mouse is on the list.... just not HIGH on the list at this time but we agree it needs to get done.... perhaps there will be an x86 W8 Surface in my future too so I would like to get to this eventually.

Holy smokes I never thought about the Surface and SageTV. Is that possible?!

The Surface Pro would be a definite yes since it runs the full version of Intel x86 Win8. The Surface RT is the question and I assume that the answer is most likely no.
