multiple tuners no signal
slowly over the past several months, I have noticed my signals on certain OTA HD channels dropping. it got a little better for several days after I rescanned using the new "post google" config of changing to cable selection in the EPG (even though I use OTA). It started with a single station, and now it has snowballed into ALL stations.
I have confirmed I have a clean signal. I can get signals great on my LCD TV tuner, as well as multiple STBs. It seems like the more I work with my Sage, the worse the problem gets. At one point tonight, I rescanned all channels under 6.6.2, and I had various channels "bouncing" between 6% and 100% with no preview available. I even tried moving to a different tuner card (was decommissioned), and also no luck. I have since uninstalled 662, renamed the sage directory, and installed the latest 7x install (and replaced with the "free upgrade" binaries) to see if that helps. When I scan I find absolutely NO channels, even though I can pull them in perfectly on my TV (same cable connection, no splitter) any ideas what could cause this? I find it hard to believe that I have suddenly lost TWO tuner cards so abruptly (but I cant rule it out).

My 2250 did this until I moved my antenna to a place that got a better signal. My 1600 and my a180 ota cards didn't have any issues while the 2250 did the exact same thing as yours. All is well now, but it was frustrating. It makes me mad that the most expensive tuner I've got is the weakest one.

It was my antenna. I have a Philips amplified antenna on ym roof, and I think the UHF side failed several months ago, and now it has taken the VHF side down as well.
while the new 950Q tuner I bought to test works OK, its still limited. The crazy thing is I plugged the little tabletop 6" antenna into my 2250, placed it by a window and boom... 95-100% signal on all channels. whodathunkit. Maybe you should revisit your antenna too?

I did. Once I moved it I don't have any more issues. My 2250 still isn't as good as the other 2 tuners though.

I saw that you had moved the antenna after I posted. I solved my issue. I installed a brand new Winegard MS2000 on the roof. So far everything is coming in perfectly now. Amazing how the right antenna makes all the difference.

Can you elaborate on this? Where can I find info about what you are talking about here? I know you fixed your problem but this could be helpful for a problem I am having. Thanks. |
