Stupid Audio Question

So I have a question about the HD300 and its audio output. I was using the last option (I forget what it is) in the settings for audio. I changed it to the second to last setting which is HDMI and SPDIF but it changes something. Reason is my bluray rips when I select the last option only has like 2 audio tracks but when I switch to the middle option or second to last option I have the correct track. For some reason I am ripping my blurays with dvdfab and us tsmuxer to put them together. Lately all the movies I have ripped has the default track as the low vision version which is narrated with description. It is ridiculous. I would like to drop that track all together because the default is wrong. If I even stop a movie and resume it defaults back to that track.

Any thoughts and ideas and input on the various settings?

Thanks!

Neil

....learn how to use the ripping software to get what you want? Seriously, this is not an HD300 problem, it's a user/software problem.

The try to be helpful, you could try using tsMuxer to rip the content with the audio track you desire and make a m2ts/ts/bluray of it. Very simple 1 step process.

On the other side, you could hit the "audio" button on the HD300 remote and that will switch audio tracks on the recording. You want to leave the "setting" you are mentioning to "raw digital" output....no processing (I'm assuming your receiver can handle that...

Good luck.

Sorry I probably wasn't clear. What I meant was that when I am using the non digital version I have all the tracks. When I use the digital / HDMI only option I don't have the audio track without the narration. Why is that?

I use DVDFab and only rip it with the one sudio track I want. Since the majority of my TVs don't support the hi def audio I have DVDFab convert the audio to Dolby Prologic II. It's in the configuration details. I play the actual Blue Ray in the living room if I want to hear the DTS soundtrack thru my receiver. And I don't have to remux or do anything else for the rip to play everywhere in the house.

They list which is which in the latest DVDFab. It will say Director's comment or language. And you can always play in the little viewing window what you have chosen to make sure it is correct before ripping.

Im using the latest version of DVDFab and it doesn't show any descriptions? I am going to double check. I know I have seen it on DVD's just not Blurays.

Just checked and there isn't any descriptions just the Type which is DTS-HS MAster 6.1 and a bunch of AC3/5.1

I always choose the DTS-Master and have the DVDFab configuration default to replace the HD audio. You may be correct for Blue Rays. I would choose the AC3 track from right-clicking the player window and listening to see if it is one I want.

What does checking that box to remove HD audio really do?

Also to the other poster I tried the BDInfo program and I don't know what that is supposed to provide?

It gives you the core audio from the HD stream. It just extracts it & then remuxes it back into the video.

But that stream isn't HD at that point correct? Also that doesn't really correct my problem with the narration.

What no one has answered or clarified is why the audio tracks are different when using the different outputs on the HD300?

Because it will only see the tracks that your choice supports. If you choose HDMI or SPDIF it will see the digital tracks. If you choose I think it is PCM it will only be able to see the tracks that is supported by that.
