Hi Andy,

I'm running SageTV 7, does it mean I have to upgrade to 7.1? If yes, where do I get it from? And where do I download STV from?
Thanks.

Yes, 7.1.9. See Opus4's signature for download links.

STV can be updated directly from settings/advanced in v7.1.

Thank you, got it working now.

I wonder if there will be a firmware update for HD300?

Error msg rcvd: "Unable to determine the file to download"

---

I know this thread is old, but I was getting this exact error and this thread was all that came up in a search. So maybe this will help someone else...

I was using SageTV v7.0.X and couldn't get my youtube videos to work... I tried updating the STV but nothing was listed as being available. (i.e. Setup -> Advanced -> Check For STV Update did nothing.)

To fix it I had to download v7.1.9 and then run the Setup -> Advanced -> Check for STV Update. (Basically there were no more updates for V7.0.X.)

(btw... The way I knew it was related was that I manually downloaded the V3 STV, unzipped it, then switched to it. The YouTube videos worked just fine there. So I switched back to V7 and hunted for an update.)

More info HERE

Item of interest: Fixed YouTube videos by skipping the WebM version links.

See Opus4's sig for links to 7.1.9 and HERE on how to install it.

(Added the msg since thread was moved from HERE and to help it update the search index.)

* moved from old thread to current thread covering this topic *

Does this fix only work with STV 7? I tried with STV3 and I still get the "unable to determine ..." error...

Do you have to upgrade the STV on every extender? I upgraded last night on my server and it could play Youtube vids. But my wife tried on an extender today and it wouldn't work - do I just have to upgrade that (and my other) extender(s).

Try unplugging the extender so it does a cold reboot.

The STV update is for the SagetV7 STV.

If it is being used as an extender, you just need to restart the extender to cause it to reload the STV. All you need to do is power off & back on; no need to unplug it. You can still use Home to power it on on faster & it will still reload the STV.

If you mean it is in standalone mode, then that STV isn't updated because it is installed via firmware.

It was working after I came home - perhaps it wasn't power cycled after the STV upgrade as I believe the extenders all power up after the service restarts, do they not?

youtube

I'm running 7.17, mainly because everything seems to be working and has been for a while, so I haven't upped to 7.19 yet.

In order to get Youtube access back again, from what I seem to understand here, I HAVE to upgrade to 7.19?

Since that's the last Sage update, when Youtube changes tech again (like they have 20 times before) 7.19 will be moot and Youtube will never work again?

It looks like an inevitability. I've already kissed the YouTube integration goodbye, since it's no longer supported in the SageTV3.xml ...

No. This is the second time Opus has updated the STV to work with YouTube. Not to say he'll be doing that forever but he is doing it now.

All resolutions/quality options should work in today's STV update.

The SageTV3 STV is included in today's STV update.

Just idle curiosity, does youtube get updated so often for feature updates or do they intentionally try to obfuscate things for 3rd party use like Sage does?

OK, well that's some good news. But, 7.19 is mandatory for Youtube bliss at the moment?

I believe that is correct. You should be on the last release anyways. Any future fixes will be done for that.

This issue still exists when using the HD300 in stand alone mode. Any chance of a fix? I tested it using the lastest beta firmware.
The work around is to use the Hd300 in extender mode to view YouTube and Goggle videos but not available to everyone. I believe the same problem exists with the HD200, but I did not test. This is not a problem for me but is for a friend of mine. Currently he prefers a HD200 fix but can use a HD300 if it worked in stand alone mode.

I updated to Sage TV 7.1.9.256 and the latest beta on my HD300.

I'm still getting the youtube "Unable to determine the file to download"

It works for me on SageTV6.6 and SageTV7.1.9 on my HD300s once I updated the stv. I haven't seen an update for stand alone mode.
