Can Sage power on the cable STB?
One problem I have from time to time is that my cable STBs will be powered off. This can happen due to a power failure, or it can happen from time to time when my provider (Rogers) decides to send them an update and that often powers them off afterwards.
I'm using colossus cards for capture and USB-UIRTs for channel changing. My question is - can Sage detect a lack of signal when starting a recording, and send a learned "power on" IR signal? It is a bit tricky I suppose because depending on the STB it may take some time to boot up. I guess it should only try to do this once per recording. Maybe all this would cause more problems than it is worth, but it is currently one of my only remaining WAF issues with my otherwise very shiny SageTV solution :-) |

There is a setting in many cable boxes to power on when any command is received. I have never tried it with IR commands but it works great using firewire on my boxes.

My Time Warner SA4250HDC has an option in the Settings menu under Devices there is a selection "Power-on Keys" select "Power Numeric" this sets the box to power on when a number key is pressed or the power button, has worked like a champ. If the box is off and a channel change happens it powers up and does the change.

powering on with keys would be awesome... I'll check into that and see if it is a feature with the STB I have. Thanks folks!
