Angry Lost power - Sage reset?

As you may have heard, Atlanta, GA had a pretty bad ice storm this past weekend. I lost power several times, but every time I booted up my HTPC, Sage came back good as before. However, when this happened, I was using Sage to record, but wasn't watching a recording

Now, a very brief but very strong thunderstorm rolled through. I was recording and watching a previously recorded show when the power suddenly went out. When it came back, I booted the HTPC as before, but it needed me to configure the country settings and the EPG (location, zip code, channel lineup, etc.) It's also back to using the old STV, I was previously using Cayar's STV and the screen is all out of proportion. However, all my favorites still appear to be intact.

Does anybody know what happened here? Is there a shortcut to restoring Sage to the way it used to be, or am I going to have to manually reset everything myself?

Thanks for your help.

When your settings & choice of STV get reset, that usually means that the properties file got corrupted & it has reverted to using all default values. It should have resorted to using its own backup of that file, but maybe that one didn't work either... or else the properties file wasn't what got destroyed. You could keep your own copies as backups in case such a future need arises.

Also: I would suggest that you look into buying a UPS to plug the HTPC into. The battery backup would give you time for an orderly shut down and could save your hardware from power problem-caused failures. I don't believe they are prohibitively expensive.
