HVR-2250 Can't update drivers

I've been working on rebuilding my Sage box (WHS v1 had some issues apparently with the drive extender on my box), and so far I've tried WHS 2011, and Win7 x64. On 2011, I got the system up and running after install, and dropped the CD that came with the hauppauge cards in and loaded the release version drivers, only to have the machine lock hard after adding one of the tuners to the Sage install. At this point, when you would restart the machine, it would basically go into a boot-loop, locking hard on every boot. I chalked it up to the 2250's not being compatible with 2011, and just went with a Win7 Ultimate sp1 install. The system installs cleanly, even loads drivers for the cards (although not the newest drivers). I went in and update the drivers to both the latest WHQL, and the later beta/prerelease drivers, and get the hard lock, and boot loop as above. At this point I'm not really sure what the issue is, but if I do a system restore to the point before changing the drivers, it comes up just fine.

In the morning I'm going to try the detected drivers and a sage install, to see if I can get it working with them correctly, but I'd rather be able to update the drivers. I had the same exact issue in WHSv1, couldn't upgrade the drivers past the CD version, or it'd lock up as well.

I do get problems with these tuners on occasion (stopped producing data, resets, etc), so at this point I'm beginning to wonder if there's some sort of compatiblity problem with the mobo or one of the other components in the box. I'm going to also check in the AM to see if the mobo in my Unraid box can be moved over to this system, and swap the mobo in this system over to the unraid box, and see if there's some sort of hardware incompatabilities going on, but has anybody else seen this issue? If I can't get them running, I'm going to be looking for alternatives, but I need dual tuner cards, that will do analog & digital (I had the 2250's set up to be a total of 8 tuners between 2 cards, using QAM digital, and analog from Charter cable, not many cards I can think of that can pull this off, any suggestions?).

Tried a new mobo/proc combo, and while I'm able to use the newest release drivers, I'm still getting the problems with recordings not starting (tells me the device has stopped sending data, and needs to be reset, gets several of those then actually starts working).

I'm currently running on this hardware:

ASUS M4A89TD PRO/USB3
AMD Phenom II 810 Quad Core
4g Memory (not sure the specs, but it's G.Skill)
2x HVR-2250's
OS Drive & Recording drives connected to mobo (160g OS, 1tb WD Black recording drive)
LSI 1068e Raid card with 4 320g WD's in stripped array (not being used at the moment, I think I'm going to pull it out of the mix to make sure it's not causing issues)
Sage 7.1.7, latest x32 Java

Not sure what the problem is, the only part that's not 'new' to the machine are the tuners. Anybody else having issues like this with the HVR-2250's? Also anybody have an alternative to them that will do 2x analog, and 2x HD in a single PCIe slot?
