How do I update Hauppauge Drivers?
I have been playing with Sage and a PVR350 on and off for a while. I am getting random lockups of the video in or out through the PVR350 and thought it best to update the Hauppauge drivers (they are definitely older than the current). But I'm not sure what the best procedure is. Do I have to reinstall Sage? Do I just reinstall Hauppauge over my existing? Or should I uninstall parts or all of the PVR350 drivers, Hauppauge Apps, and/or Sage? And finally how do I preserve the shows I've already recorded in Sage as I do all this? I'm new to all this so I appreciate any insight and intelligence into the whole process.
Thanks, Gary Last edited by gsee; 10-10-2006 at 02:31 PM. |

I have a PVR500, but I normally just extract the new drivers to a folder and then go to Device Manager>Audio/Video>Hauppauge and "Update Driver"...pointing Windows to the extracted driver folder. You can also run Hauppauge's HCWClear if you want to be thorough, but I've never had a problem "going over the top" with new drivers with the 500. Whatever you do, you *don't* need to do anything to Sage. The most that could happen is that Sage might add the card to mmc/ignore_encoders in the properties file after the upgrade, but you just delete the entry if that happens.

Indeed Polypro's suggestion worked for the PVR350 base driver, but what about the other Hauppauge "drivers" such as: PVR350 update middleware, Hauppauge Video Decoder (hcwsmd05_23290.exe), and Hauppauge Remote Control App. How do I update these? Or are they not important once Sage is in control? My goal here is to insure I have the latest drivers from both Hauppauge and Sage to maximize stability and increase the WAF. I'm worried since so far it's been only about 95% reliable.
Any suggestions to insure I have the latest of all and maximum stability would be much appreciated. Thanks, Gary Last edited by gsee; 10-10-2006 at 09:12 PM. |
