What does archiving mean?

Hello there,

I have read through the pdf manual and done searches about archived recordings. I find a lot of info about how to tell if a recording is archived, how to filter by it, etc.

But I don't understand what the difference between an archived recording and a non-archived recording is.

I know this probably sounds silly, but I am not getting it. Sorry =/

Thank you for your time
Les

There isn't much more to it than that. It's basically just a way to tag recordings for filtering purposes. It doesn't actually move the files anywhere.

I believe the archive status removes the recording from being subject to the auto-delete rules too. If you allow Sage to dump old recordings to make room for new ones when you run out of space if it's archived it will be safe.

This is correct. I found that info in the manual earlier.

I guess I just assumed there was more to 'archiving' then that though.

Thanks to you both for the info
