Archiving movies?

Can anyone explain the process of archiving movies?

The manual doesn't say much about it. Is this just locking a recording so it wont be deleted? Or does it actually move the recordings somwhere?

If it does move the recordings, then how does SageTV know/decide where to move them?

Is there a property that controls this?

thanks

See p. 40 of the v5 SageTV manual for info on what happens when a recording is archived. The file is not moved or changed in any way; it is just tagged as Archived & will not be automatically deleted.

Thanks for the quick reply Opus.

I thought archiving was the answer to my prayers for managing my media library.

It would appear not though.

I've tried following the faq on copying from my recordings directory to my video library. Now I've got a movie that isn't recognized anywhere.

There must be an easy way to move my recordings to my library.

You do or do not want the recordings moved to an import dir to be listed as SageTV recordings?

If you want them to just be imports, then just remove the ID code numbers from the end of the filename when you move them. But, you will no longer have airing info associated with the files.
