Running Time for DVDs shows "Days" in standard Sage UI

I am using MyMovies to create the .Properties files for the standard Sage UI (not the plugin) and for some reason it shows several days running time for DVDs. The running time for Blu-rays seems to be correct, though. I have looked at the .Properties files and the "RunningTime" entry seems to be reasonable. Does Sage interpret this value differently for DVDs?

I am having the same problem and have tried everything that has been suggested including doing a clean install of sage on the machine my shares are on. A clean install of sage with no plugins whatsoever still shows days, hours and so on.

This is still happening for me even with the new SageTV beta. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Are you using any plugin or just the core? If not any plugin I can't help you as I don't write those property files nor do I have control. I am not sure if he is writing them in minutes or ms but sagetv expects it in ms.

Some areas of sage actually get the runtime from mediafile detials though as well and won't use the mymovies field by nature.

Thanks - I am using Diamond plugin and now that you mention it the Diamond video screens do show the correct running time. I guess the standard screens are showing a different Property that I might have to report as a bug?

Some of the movies I rent are so bad that they seem to go on for days but not the ones I own...

I believe the movie you are referring to is called "Open Water". I distinctly remember watching it and going my god how long could this movie possibly be, it must be over soon, hitting pause and realizing I was only 20 minutes in.

same story here

I have this same issue. I use mymovies cm to generate the prop files for my dvds. It puts the runningtime field in there in milliseconds. I use the plain sage v7 ui, no mods.

What should the units be for runningtime and duration?

Sage made a stvi update (I think that was it) that added the dvd running time due to a bug I filed. Once I get confirmation on the units for runningtime, I'll file a new bug. I've been holding off on doing this for a while now.

edit 2:

It seems that new dvds added to sage 7.1.2 with the runningtime (in ms) in the prop file show the correct duration. however, older dvds show the duration in the days. it doesn't seem to update this field in its database even if you change the value in the prop file.

so, one more question:
how can you get sage to refresh the db?

There is a property in the sage properties called something like force full index or something like that find it and set it to true restart and it will read the props file. Make sure the service is stopped when you do this.

This isn't the case for me. I have a movie that is 108 minutes long and MM exports 'RunningTime=615600000' which clearly isn't milliseconds and I can't figure out how they arrive at this number. I reported this on their forum but no response so I have switched to BMT for now.

that worked on my test box. I'll try it tonight on my main sage system.

much thanks!

for the record, the correct property name is:

force_full_content_reindex

interesting. I have to do the refresh database thing tonight and I'll see if I still have any movies with durations in the days. the few I checked looked ok.

I've found you need to repeatedly bump your bugs up otherwise they get ignored. If I do see mm screwing up, I'll add to your post.

ok, I was wrong. sage still shows durations of days after the db reload. the prop files I "thought" were correct had been fixed by me when I was experimenting. oops!

it looks like cm is off by a factor of 100. I'll report this bug to brian.

thanks!

cncb,

you might want to bump your request on the mm forum. it doesn't seem to be getting any acknowledgement from brian.

I bumped it but it doesn't seem like it will be addressed. I probably will just continue using Phoenix/BMT from now on.

108 minutes was exported by MM as "RunningTime=615600000"
It should be "RunningTime=6480000" so it is off by a factor of 615600000/6480000 = 95. I checked a different movie and it is off by the same factor.

interesting. I'll have to check a few more and see if I get 95 or 100.
