how does sagetv7 do tuning atsc channels with hauppauge 1800 & 1850?

i have a sagetv6 w/ vista 64-bit hauppauge 1800 & 1850
i can tune ntsc cable signals fine. for atsc hdtv i have to use wintv7 to tune the channel. then shut it down. then tune any hdtv channel in sagtv. switching hdtv channels in sagetv doesnt change the channel. i have to use wintv7. its not a huge problem as i use atsc channels mainly for weekend sports, but of course, i would like to stop using wintv7.

i could get a hauppauge 1600, but by the other posts, it seems to have even more problems.

btw, using latest hauppauge 2.2 cd drivers

may get a hd homerun eventually.

just gave up trying to get hauppauge 1800 & 1850 to tune atsc channels in vista and windows7.
seems no one knows how to do this.

bought 8-port wifi & 2 tuner silicon dust hdhomerun for $180 total.
everything works great.

I have a hauppauge 1600 and a hauppauge 2250 and have had no problem with the 1600. In fact the 1600 gets some more channels then the 2250.

The only problem I have had is with the 2250 tossing out error messages when I try adding channels that the tuner does not like or when I try using the analog tuners with the digital tuners at the same time which I think a lot of people are trying to do that have problems.

I am running a windows 7 64 bit machine and love being able to record 3 shows at once.

The cards work great for ATSC in Linux. I am using 3rd HVR-1600s and 1 1800.

All I did to get it working was install the 1600 drivers - The drivers I am using now for my 1600 are 1.62.27148.0 .

Then fire up sage tv / goto setup / Goto setup Video Sources / Add new source and choose Hauppage Wintv 418 TS capture - Choosing That and not the Hauppage Wintv 418 Video capture will allow you to get Digital Channels while Choosing Hauppage Wintv 418 Video capture will make it use the Analog tuner in the card.

I tend to stick with all digital signals since I record ATSC over the air channels. After adding the tuners you need to pick your Cable or antenna signal type and your EPG guide lineup and scan for new channels. Also make sure all your cards are hooked up to a reliable tv signal like an antenna so they get a good signal.
