Convert component video/audio to clearQAM

I found a product that converts component video/audio to clearQAM. If component video/audio could be converted to HD clearQAM, then all the HD content could be recorded with an HDHomeRun or another capture device that is more reliable than a HD-PVR. The product looks like it would be expensive, I could not find a price. Maybe there are other products that could convert the component output of a set top box into HD clearQAM that are cheaper than the unit I found.

I'm not exactly sure how this would be useful for SageTV. Not to mention it is probably very expensive and would require a dedicated QAM tuner for SageTV to record since your cable company would be seriously ticked off if you started trying to broadcast your own channels on their network. Then there would be the complicated process of needed to not only be able to tune to the specific channel on the QAM tuner but also tune the channel you want to record on your STB. AFAIK, SageTV can't do that.

Interesting product but certainly more for hotels or other places that need to broadcast their own digital channels to a limited network than for any usefulness for SageTV.

Frankly neither of these solutions are financially feasible, adds additional complications, just to try to add a small bit more reliability to a device that since V7 came out has caused me no problems (and previously issues were almost none).

The device is probably too expensive, since they don't mention cost anywhere. The cable company should have no concern. The component video output of the HD cable box would go into the MX6700 input. The QAM output of the MX6700 would go into the input of a HDHomeRun. The HD cable box would be tuned with a USB-UIRT. That setup would be an alternative to the problematic HD-PVR to record HD. However, the MX6700 is probably too expensive.

Again though, under v7 with the new drivers I have no issues.... I never really had many issues, but it is even more stable now. Even with a first generation (i.e. C1) HDPVR.

I'm hesitant to say you are in the minority, but there are WAY too many people having problems with the HDPVR for it to be anything other than a device issue. Yes V7 took a step forward, but it has not cured everyone's ills. The only thing that has made my HDPVR bearable is 1) an RMA 2) a USBUIRT to take it's IR blaster out of the mix. Since that, I haven't had too many issues.

I came to realize recently that I've had almost no problem with my HDPVR since I stopped using remote desktop and started using DameWare Mini Remote Control on my SageTV server. RDP's virtualized hardware doesn't play nice with some devices.

I occasionally have 'faults' with the HD-PVR. I've done all the suggestions except the fan and automatic power cycling. Although I do have the top cover off. Maybe I'll add the fan. I just updated to the new 1.5.7.0 driver yesterday. Maybe that will be the solution to the problems. I'm not very confident that the new driver fixed the problem. So many people have repetitive problems with the HD-PVR. So far, it's day 2 with the new drive and no lockups yet.

The way that I could see using this is as a way to integrate the extenders. Rather than having one extender per TV, I could use use this to share an extender. But, you would need to have an RF remote system on place and probably wouldn't be worth the cost.
