Help, please. How do stop SageTv from recording spanish SAP?

I recorded a program over the weekend (Fox), and it recorded the Spanish sap track. I have looked everywhere in the menus and can not find a setting that sets the recording to english.

I researched here in the forums, but all the relevant posts are dated 2003.

Where is the menu setting where I can specify which sound track I want it to record?

You are likely recording all the tracks, just not playing back the right one...

Found the answer myself, but thought I would post so that somebody searching in the future could find a solution.

Apparently the problem was with the VLC media player. With default settings, it played the sap spanish track. When the same file was played in windows media player classic and wmp classic home cinema edition, both players defaulted to the english track.

I did not explore vlc to see how to change tracks because vlc is not working out for me playing the HD content any way, so there was no need to waste the time.

I agree. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Here is a screen shot of the recording in question. It is currently playing the spanish track.

I don't know where the screw-up is - SageTV, Silicone HomeRun, or VLC - but I'm sure you would agree that logically you would think that track 1 would normally be the main (english) track, and track 2 would be the secondary (spanish) track. Not the case, apparently.

Don't forget. It could be the source. I know a couple of weeks ago my cable company had somehow broadcast both tracks simultaneously. SO when I played backed the recording you only had one track to choose from but it was playing both english and spanish.

Actually, that was the first thought I had. But the broadcast (that was watched realtime) was in english. I'm watching with the built in qam tuner, so I would assume it would default to the main audio track which was english.

Yeah that is really bizarre! Unfortunately logic seems to be left out in a lot of decisions these days
