Confused with Channel Mappings in SageTV

So I have an automatically updating EPG now which was the bit I was most worried about

At first I did not pick up all the channels on either the HDHomerun or SageTV but gradually with configuration, more and more channels have been detected.

I have the strangest issue with the resulting channels in SageTV and the real purpose of PHYSICAL and LOGICAL channel numbers.

When I look at the HDHomerun channels which are also stored in the .FRQ file as you would expect.

I have a perfect PHYSICAL CHANNEL sequence as you would expect directly from a Freeview receiver.

1 BBC One
2 BBC Two
3 ITV 1
4 Channel 4
etc

This way I get 110 channels (some of which I cannot receive)

Good to go -->

I then run DG2XML from Digiguide and get a list of channels from Digiguide specifically for 'Freeview East'

There are less of these about 90ish including Radio Channels

The in Stephanes XLMTV Importer for SageTV, in the mapping channels section, I map specific physical channels (from HD Homerun .FRQ file) to their XMLTV Counterparts and I have for ease of use applied Physical and Logical channel mappings.

Source PHY LOG XMLTV Listing
BBC-ONE 1 1 BBC One East
BBC-TWO 30 2 BBC Two East
ITV1 12 3 ITV1 Anglia
etc

For some reason, the physical channel numbers coming through here do not see to map or be sequenced as per the HD Homerun Physical Channel sequence from earlier. Never mind... Logical it is then

When I am in SAGETV Channel Mapping I get the strangest thing

I get multiple entries for the same channels some of which are activated and some are not.

BBC-TWO[8543545454]
BBC Two - Green Tick
BBC-ONE [7584376732]
BBC One - Green Tick

When looking at the guide data, only the channels with the appropriate names 'BBC Two' have any guide data, the other entries wherever they have come from have 'NO DATA' in the EPG.

Am I suffering from a mistake in the process? How can you add channels 1 by 1 in XMLTV to SageTV and SageTV rather than pre-populating the list based on either XMLTV or the FRQ file?

I suspect you let Sage run a channel scan which would have created these other entries with the long numbers.

As per Stephanes guide I pointed you at, once you are happy with your lineup then delete the tuners from Sage, re-add them but don't do a channel scan at the end; it should pickup the channel data from the XMLTV you told it about.

ps. backup your frq's first also, just in case

Thanks Starfire, i will try this although I thought I had already tried to do this once.

Could the frq file be duplicating channels I wonder?

You need to look in the .frq file to confirm/deny this. I am using satellite tuners & never do a channel scan as it is much less problematical to edit the file by hand once it has been populated by an initial scan or preferably you have obtained a known working .frq file from somebody else.
