Best time sync program?

Hi all,

Still on the hunt for a good and reliable internet time sync program other than the standard Windows Time Server built in to windows XP.

Has anyone had any good luck with any free ones? I used to use Dimension4, and it seemed to work ok.

What would really be slick is a program that will add or subtract a few seconds from the "atomic time" so that there is an offset on the actual time. Missing the last few seconds of a show because another one cuts it off, is really kinda annoying.

Or is there a way to move start/end times just a few seconds, within Sage7? Right now I see only the option for minutes, not seconds ..

It's the one time server to rule them all (ok, i'm done with my bad Tolkien humor now!)

What's wrong with the built-in time sync functionality in Windows XP/Vista/7? I just use that, but I've reconfigured it so that it uses one of NIST's timeservers instead of Microsoft's, and I also have it sync every 30 minutes instead of every few days (or whatever the default is).

However, I don't think there's a day to tell it to offset the time every time it syncs. A long time ago I used to use AnalogX's Atomic TimeSync, which does let you do it (although I've never tried it). If you do that then you probably want to turn off Window's time service, and Sage's (I think Sage runs its own too).

The AnalogX Atomic TimeSync is BRILLIANT! EXACTLY what I am looking for .. All I wanted to do was have "the right time" *plus* about 4 seconds, which seems to be the common offset for most programming for some reason. Not sure why it is, but it has followed me around. Maybe I just am too picky about the beginning-of-show blather; but this should do just as I need!

It's likely I didn't type in the right thing into Google when I first started this quest. But now, I will install when I have a minute to myself to tweak out the system further ... Thanks!

May I suggest to the admins that perhaps you sticky the URL as a "useful tool" for those of us trying to offset our 'atomically-correct' system time by just a few seconds?

That Analogx is great. I kept missing the last 11 seconds or so of Law and Order. I simply adjusted the time to -15 seconds and now I get all the endings.

I've used AboutTime for years - it's 'postcard ware' send the author a postcard. it hasn't been updated in YEARS but it works. You'll want the 'no msie version' ... the msie version includes an autodialer for your MODEM (I'm thinking your not using dialup)
