USB-UIRT - How to speed up the channel change
I have USB-UIRT working to change the channels but it seems sooooo slow.
Slow for each number it puts in and slow after the 3 digits are entered before actually "sends" the signal. What options/settings should I be playing around with to get as fast a response as I can but still be stable/reliable? |

Under Setup > Setup Video Sources > <YOUR_SOURCE> > Tuner Control > Remote Control Options, I changed "Delay Between Codes" to 1ms and "Repeat Factor" to 1. I don't know what the latter does, but the former seemed to make it go a little faster. You may also change "Digits per Channel" to 0, learn the "Enter" key on your remote, and set that as the "Channel Change Confirm Code". I used to do that, but now have it set to 3 with no confirm code--don't remember why...
Anyway, I haven't really looked into what all those settings do, or if there's other ways to get channel changes to go faster, so take it for what it's worth .

graywolf: you used to use Directv - do you still? If you do here are my settings.
Digits per Channel: 0 Channel Change Prefix Code: None Channel Change Confirmation Code: Enter Delay Between Codes: 200 msec Delay Between Channel Changes: 200 msec IR Blaster Repeat Factor: 2 You'll need to have SageTV learn your Enter Key code. I've used these settings on H20 and H21 series receivers and get much faster channel changes set this way than I did with USB channel changing. EDIT: 06/24/2010 - I'm having some issues with these settings now on the H21 - the H20 is still rock solid - playing with settings now to see what works. I have not had a single mistune in over a year that I've been using the USB-UIRT.

Do you know what "Delay Between Channel Changes" and "IR Blaster Repeat Factor" do?

Pretty sure that Delay Between Channel Changes is how long you have to wait after you've entered a channel and pressed enter before you can enter another number and have the blaster respond to it. Hope someone corrects me if I'm wrong on these.

Thanks. I'll give that all a try.
Yes, with DirecTV. Sony SAT-B50s & SAT-B55s. Ancient boxes but they work and spouse really likes the interface and doesn't like change much. WAF is always fragile during change Finally getting rid of the VCRs. |
