USB-UIRT Pauses when I change channel

I currently use the USB-UIRT with SageTV. Recently, the USB-UIRT has not tuned my cable box to the correct channel. For instance, today I wanted to record Fox News, channel 46. What I got was Nicelodeon, channel 6. What the USB-UIRT did was send channel 4, then paused, then channel 6. Problem is, the pause made the box change to channel 4. The second pause made it go to channel 6. Basically, if there was not as long a pause between the 4 and the 6, I would have gotten channel 46.

Is there a setting that I can access to change this? Should I reposition my USB-UIRT? I currently have it directly in front of the IR window on my cable box.

Please help.

See p. 121 of the v2.1 manual for Remote Control Options for Source Details. You can change some of the delay times.

Thank you opus. I referenced the manual and changed the speed from 600 ms to 480 ms. It is my belief that a 20% faster code change will fixz the problem. We shall see.

Thanks!

Thumbs down Dealy in SageTV before Channel Change

Hi

I use USB-UIRT to control the STB (BellSouth). There is a 5+ second delay from the time I select the channel to the time the actual channel showing up.

There is a full 4 second delay before the IR blaster sends signal to the STB.

1. Can I reduce the delay in any means?
2. Is this specific to this specific IR Blaster (Does other models have instantanious responce?)

Looking forward to make things faster.

Regards
Vikram

In the same section of the manual, you can try reducing the delay time between channel changes & you can add a new IR code as the Channel Change Confirm Code that will be sent after each channel change -- similar to using the original STB remote & pressing Enter/OK after entering a channel number.

Exclamation SageTV Delay of 4 Seconds?

I did reduce the delay between the channels. But my observation is, after typing the channel to be tuned to, SageTV sends the channel number to IR blaster after 4 seconds delay. I assure that SageTV takes 4 seconds before starting to send the signal! Any reason for this behaviour? Can this be eleminated?

I have been trying to reset the delay times mentioned in this thread, but have not been able to. I get the dialog, type in the new setting and hit enter, but the old number still shows up. I tried it on my server and my client.

Anyone have any ideas why?

I don't know why the values wouldn't be saved, but you can try exiting SageTV completely and then editing the .IR files to change those numbers -- the delay values should be on the first line. Just note what the current ones are & you should see them in the file. The .IR files are in:

Frey Technologies\Common\RemoteCodes\<name of blaster>

That did it. Thanks so much.

Strange that it wouldn't let me change it though.

Opus4,

by the way, the Tuner Control option doesn't always appear it seems. At least for me it is not there. I use an xmltv plug-in so maybe that is the reason.

Would it be possible to include an appendix in the 2.1 manual explaining the format of .IR files?

Can these delays be set to 0? I'm curious how to set this up to get the fastest channels changes possible with my SA 3200 digital box.

Also, is it possible to have the channel change confirm command sent twice? This removes the boxes OSD quickly.

Thanks

I'm not sure why it wouldn't show up... I thought the option was supposed to be there whenever a tuning plugin was in use.

Not in the v2.1 manual... but perhaps I can include something in the future. Isn't the .IR format explained somewhere around here already, though? I don't have time to search at the moment, so if someone knows...

That might depend on the IR file format... maybe the code could be defined as being sent again after a short time?
