The HDHR is a great gadget, but only gets QAM or OTA (antenna ATSC). I don't know that comparing it to those other thing you mentioned is a fair comparison.
If you require premium cable/satellite, the HDHR is not for you - but even in that case, it's a great way to add two more tuners to your setup that can get your locals and/or unencrypted digital cable channels, and thus free up your cable/sat tuners for those encrypted shows.

I think you're assuming US HDHomerun. There is a DVB-T HDHR.
To the OP, DVB-T isn't going away, so Freeview and Freesat won't make it obsolete. You could continue receiving your DVB-T or DVB-C Stations, assuming that's what you meant.

By the fact that you mention freeview & freesat, I assume you're in the UK ?
If so, check out this thread : http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40798 ie it doesn't do Freeview HD (DVB-T2) or Freesat (DVB-S)

Oh poo
Ahh well it seemed a good idea...
I want to migrate away from PCIe cards... I have two dual cinergy cards in my box and want to dump them and make the move from DVB-T to either DVB-T2 or DVB-S Alas DVB-S seems to be quite a gree tech as far as sage is concerned and most of the cards out their are only PCI.... Which my board does not have many of - it being such an old tech.... So... we shall see if the HD Homerun people come up with a DVB-S product.... Cant be that troublesome for them.... |
