Hdhomerun Help

Hey guys,
I have been having stuttering issues with my hdhomerun and HD channels (QAM). If I close sagetv and launch VLC, everything is great. But if I go into sage, it stutters and doesnt play back smoothly, also on my clients. I switched the overlay from VMR9 to Overlay because I was curious if my system couldnt handle it and thus the stuttering, but that isnt the issue either.
Any advice?
Thanks
Mo

I've had stuttering issues as well both on client's and on the server. I have pretty high end HW (server is Dual socket Xeon 5160's--dual Conroe's at 3.0Ghz/1333 FSB; Clients are Core 2 2.67's with 7600 to 7950 GT vid cards). I found I tested various settings and found that using VMR9 was the least stuttering.

One issue I did find with my setup is that the HD on the server side had speed issues. It was a while ago, but when I was running single disk on the server it couldn't keep up with both the recording and playback. I went to Raid 0 off a 3ware 9550 and dual Seagate 7200.10 320 GB drives and it was issue free...I have since gone to Raid 5 with 4 mixed SATA 250 GB drives and no issue.

Long story short, I would look at the HD usage on the server and see if you are saturating read/writes and try all the various Vid render options in Sage.

good luck.
