Yes I just unplugged them to check again. They are in the right position. Green on bottom and blue in the middle. Red is on top.

If you have a HDTV with component then connect the TV up to the cable box and verify the cables work and the cablebox is set correctly. Maybe there is a menu on the cable box which turns that output on or off.

Yes I do have an HDTV with component, so I can definitely try hooking the TV up to the cable box. However I went thru the cable box menu system a few times and there is no option for turning on or off the outputs. Still researching the box. Thanks for you help.

Gerry- I took your advice and removed the Component cables from the HD PVR and ran them directly to my TV and switch the TV to input 1 and everything showed up perfectly. Video and Audio perfect. So the component Output 1 is working correctly on my cable box. This also indicates that all of the plugs are also connected properly. So again, even though my post was moved to hardware...I think now my problem is more software than hardware. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can try next. This is now Day 3 of the PVR/SageTv Nitemare! HAHAHA Thanks everyone so far for the help!

Have rebooted the HD PVR? It's internal software may be confused by the strange signals it got when it was miscabled.

Not since I did the last cable configuration. I will try that now.

If you take Sage out of the equation and just install the TME software and test with that does it work? Hauppague support will insist that is the only app they support. If it doesn't work with TME then I would declare a problem with the HD-PVR device itself and get it exchanged.

Hello My Video Gurus-

It has been close to a year and my HD PVR was sitting in its box collecting dust because I couldn't figure out how to get it to work and I was also working on an incredibily slow laptop. Well now I have a faster system with a new OS (win7) so I connected everything back up using all of the wonderful advice above tried to see if I can get it working again. I just finished GKusnick advice and connected my cable box to my TV using Output 1 and everything is working fine with the composite connection. So now here is the checklist:

Cables on HD PVR: Check
Cables on HD Cable Box: Check
Cycle Power on Both Devices: Check
Check Output 1 on Cable Box: Check
Tried TME Software: Failed Also
Newest Drivers Installed: Check (as of today)

Still receiving the No Signal sign. I even tried to connect to HD PVR using Windows Media Center and it does not detect a signal as well. I'm getting desperate here! I'm considering sending anyone that can get this working for me $25. Any takers.

Thanks in advance and if you need me to provide any other information, let me know!

ok to make sure.

Hook hd cable box right to tv with COMPONENT (RGB). hook it to a component input on the tv. Now make sure you can view video in color. you will likely have to adjust your cablebox output to either 720p or 1080i depending on your tv model.

That will confim your cable box is set up right.

Then hook to the hdpvr, and readd source for sage.

Cable Box Checked!

Hey JP, thanks for the help. I think I have already done what you asking me to do. I took the component cables that was hooked into the HD-PVR and unhooked them and hooked them into input on the TV and my TV recognized the box and switched itself to 1080i(Component). So yes, I double checked that the cablebox is connected correctly.

I then went back into Sage and deleted the old source and added the new source. At the point where it has you test the settings (Basic, Advance, etc) I get the NO SIGNAL message. I can skip it and continue but obviously I still get no picture at all.

So what is my next step?

One thing to look for is in the Sage Source setup, ensure you are using Component for input, and not component+SPDIF.

Since you seem to be using analog audio, Component only is the correct setting, anything else most likely will result in "No Video"

Good luck.

I actually tried both of them when Component only wasn't working. So that is a negative for either giving me something other than No Signal. I was doing more research through the forums and it was for another unrelated problem but someone mentioned hooking HD-PVR directly to the TV to verify that it works. Now to me it doesn't really make sense but it got me thinking, is there any test that I can do to first ensure that my HD-PVR wasn't shipped defective?

The only test I know of, is to use the software that comes with the HDPVR, and if that does not work, then most likely you have a defective unit, and replacement would be in order.

Other than that, I could not tell you.
