The fact that SageTV has been involved in some of those talks is also promising (and no, I don't mean they are promising anything!)

You missed the 6.5.20. Hopefully we don't see 7.0.52 before public beta.

These days I only check the forum to see if there is any progress on SageTV 7. Is there are mailing list or a particular thread I could subscribe to that would generate an email when Sage 7 enters beta? It's actually kind of depressing to come to the site week after week, pining away for a SageTV with a modern UI and a high WAF.

Top Ten Reasons V7 Will Be a Failure

10. The servers will crumble under the weight of so many people downloading V7 at once
9. It's not made by Apple
8. It won't be 7MC, Boxee, XBMC, etc... so someone will always find something to compare it to
7. Without the UI to use as an excuse SageTV detractors will resort to sabotage
6. The servers will crumble under the weight of all the Media Center refugees
5. Having worked tirelessly for months, SageTV staff members are all hospitalized due to coding exhaustion
4. You will need glasses to enjoy the new 3D UI
3. It can't get here fast enough
2. The new UI and features comes with high WAF out of the box. With nothing to do, tweakers secretly revert back to V6
1. No release can repel anticipation of this magnitude

Good one Although, do not underestimate the power of complainers. Probably a law somewhere establishing that the amount of complainers is constant through time. They just adapt

USUALLY the removal of the sticky thread of the last beta is a pretty good indication of an impending release, I'd have to guess maybe between now and Monday ...

Hmm, the 6.6.2 Mac beta thread is back to being a sticky... Wonder what that means?

And SiliconDust makes the Beta announcement next week. Wonder if Sage7 is going to have support for the upcoming product. I also wonder if Sage7 is going to be recommended for Win7 windows platform on Planet Micro$oft. (note: note saying Linux or Mac is gone, just version of windows requirements)

Isn't windows already the 'recommended' platform for sage?

Just curious why the

Planet Micro$oft

$ is the question.

If one had wanted to stay current on OSX during all the years since it's first release I believe you are closing in on $900 (including buying your initial license if you already had a Mac.) Staying current on Windows OS since XP came out would run you the same or a little less (with the same buy a full price XP license to start assumption.) Plus your computer could cost you much less.

Of course linux could be free.

I just don't get why folks ding MS for wanting to make a buck on their work and somehow give Stevie who is at least as greedy and I think noticeably more controlling a pass.

Sorry, just a pet peeve, now back to your regular programming.

I want my Sage 7 beta, please.

The first version of OS X was released in March 1999 whereas Windows XP arrived 2.5 years later in October 2001 so to properly compare you should be starting on Windows ME or Windows 2000 not XP. Your 11 year old Mac is likely more usable & useful than a Windows machine of similar vintage. Although they cannot run the latest version 10.6 (Snow Leopard) I doubt that an 11 year old Windows machine will run Windows 7 either.

Sorry, can't let this one lay, Mac people sure love moving the goal posts to declare touch downs

Secondly, I think anyone who tries to push the myth that Macs have magically anti-aging properties should be forced to use an old Mac for a week as punishment. They still work just as well on the OS they were designed for vs the comparable priced PC for the OS it was designed for, which is to say they would both be equally terrible by todays standards.

I've afraid there's a simpler explanation for this, see post #7 in the below thread.
