as a developer, features are ready or you know they will be ready much soon than the beta release date.

Has a beta release date been listed? If not then they can get whatever they want done and call it ready for the beta release.

Don't misunderstand, I'm excited to see the new UI and hope it's worth the wait. I think it needs an overhaul, but I also had concerns over the time it would take and the effect on the progression of features. I always saw merit in both sides of the arguments and had mixed feelings as to what I wanted to see from Sage in the next release. Last edited by blade; 04-25-2010 at 06:57 PM. |

Stop complaining. We're up to 7.0.7. That's a whole +0.0.1 change Don't come here and say we do not get stuff (although I bet they are having fun each time they change it, should be a law against such cruel behaviour)

Moxi 3 tuner
In our neck of the woods Time Warner have moved the HD 'free to air' up to where I need their box to see HD locals etc. I can get plain old digital in 4:3 without their box. We only ever have had TW 'basic' and we use Netfilx and Hulu for the rest of our content.
So I moved our SageTV setup to 'over the air' to get HD for locals. Get a couple of millisecond glitch to broadcast due to trees but not missed any recordings in last few weeks due to signal loss. So patiently been waiting for SageTv update and to a extent what HDHR will bring. In that time I have to admit I am now very close to getting a Moxi 3 tuner unit. Cost wise it works out about the same as what I have invested in all my Sage setup. Two HDHR, computer*, HD200. Moxi has 'extra room' units too. (*I know I still need computer to run Moxi/Playon, but I would look at just using kids or my own computer in place of seperate computer I currnetly have for SageTV) Anyone tried a Moxi? Looks like for me it would do all I want in one box. I don't have lots of DVDs on my hard drive etc. What's the use copying all that content, when it is so easy to get it from Netflix and Hulu etc. Hell if I even miss a program like I did with Glee the other night I can watch it the following night from somewhere. Moxi has cable card and with its other features like 'Playon' I would be set. Surfing around forums I don't see too many people with issues using unit. No more than the issues you find here on setting up SageTV. Sage has to be worried about its user base moving to setups like Moxi. I think it is where Sage falls down in NOT saying what is coming. I can look at this long wait as... ' this is normal they never release details', 'they are working on upgrade but realize people will be disappointed so don't say much', or 'they are stumped with what is happening out there and it is a lost cause, hope you like you new UI'. I look at the list of features on the amazon site for Moxi 3 tuner unit and it si very tempting to click the 'add to cart' button. http://www.amazon.com/Moxi-3-Tuner-5.../dp/B002DEMBF8 So SageTV, what gives? Why should I wait? ... |

The Moxi does look cool, but my goodness the price is high.
$600 for the main server $300 for each additional TV $xxx for more hard drive space (only comes with 500gb.) For me that's $1,800+. I can definitely wait for Sage 7. |

The three times I thought about trying Netflix I checked their online library and they didn't have it for download. As for Hulu, I can't speak to that as I have never tried it. |

I saw the future last night after a few Oberons. It was the future of SageTV version 7 and it was amazing!
Favorites are added by simply thinking "I really like this show!". New channels magically appear as you want them and disappear when you've grown tired of them. Oh the interface! You've never seen such a glorious interface! Multi-air-touch-laser-powered-uber-think-touch (MATLPUTT for short). You just gesture and think or randomly wave your hands in the air and it just KNOWS what you want. Channel change? Wiggle your left pinky. Mark a show as dislike? Give the TV the middle finger. All videos will automagically be converted to 3D. You can watch all your shows anywhere in the world by having the video beamed straight into your brain from the new Sage Brain Wave Transmit 9000 (TM) system. The new hardware is amazing. No more Windows or Mac OS X! It is just a glass globe that hovers above your coffee table and waits for your commands (it may run linux, no one knows for sure). Lots of other cool stuff I don't remember now. The only downside is Sage7 runs on unicorn blood, leprechaun dust*, and fairy wings. *leprechaun dust is just the charred remains of leprechauns. |

On a more serious note. Did anyone notice the new WHS update named "Vail" has no Media Center features added? Big disappointment there imo. Last edited by Brent; 04-26-2010 at 12:40 PM. |

Please, Sage. Put us out of our misery and provide us with a new beta so we don't have to read any more nerd comedy routines (no offense to any nerd comedians out there ).

While I understand their desire to keep things quiet, their timing is really awful. We are finally starting to see some real solutions for capturing HD cable (Silicondust HDHR-CC and Centon InfiniTV) that don't depend on the problem prone HD-PVR to do the work. These are obviously going to require some kind of DRM, but at this point I'm ready to give that up for something that "just works". I've been using SageTV for quite a while and have really liked SageTV's extenders. I actually am thinking of buying a couple more, but if there isn't at least a discussion going on about getting one of these devices working I need to seriously reconsider going another route. SageTV's advantage for me compared to other solutions (Windows Media Center, Tivo) has always been its flexibility especially when dealing with multiple sources (cable, over-the-air, DVD, blu-ray, Internet) relatively seamlessly, but I'm starting to think it is coming at too high of a price. At this point, I'd really like to see at least some "concept" screenshots of the new UI and an answer to if there are any discussions going on to make either of the cable card solutions work in some form with SageTV. I know there would be a lot of work necessary to make this work and I'm not looking for a definitive yes, but I merely want to make sure the answer isn't no chance.

Neither of these applications records or displays broadcast Live TV which SageTV does exceptionally well.
Not a big disappointment to those who value the reliability of the backup & file serving functionality of WHS. Adding Media Center to Windows Server 2008 with all the potential for instability is a really bad idea & for once Microsoft seem to agree with me:-) Use SageTV for your Media Center & use WHS as the server just don't mix them together |

Very true. SageTV's PVR capabilities crush the competition, and have since I started using it back when SageTV 2.0 was just released as a public beta I'm really hoping that V7 will finally bring the rest of the product (music, online capabilities, and UI) up to what the competition is offering. I have a HD100 but am holding off on waiting for V7 to be released to ensure that buying a HD200 along with V7 will give me the perfect solution for my living room. Otherwise, I'll have to build a Client PC and integrate SageTV somehow with Meedios/Boxee, etc. I really want one product (all SageTV preferred) that kicks a$$
