Here's another interesting tidbit. I debated posting this because I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way, but I think we're all in good spirits here.

While BeyondTV was being actively developed, their biggest gap in releases seems to be between v3.4.4 and v.3.5, which were released March 25th, 2004, and October 8, 2004. That's 198 days.

To be fair, Snapstream didn't have to worry about STV updates or extender firmware updates, and we've seen several of those in the last 200 days. So its not like Sage isn't doing anything. But, I'm still expecting big changes in v7 because of this gap.

I have a great deal of experience with this "refresh" issue so I'll field this question. In the past I've found that hitting refresh multiple times a day does in fact result in a beta release. I've been diligently hitting refresh for the past 256 days and I expect nothing less than a beta release.

I can't take it anymore!
I only have a week left!
Pay my taxes in a week or keep the $$$ for SageTV upgrade?

Should I risk paying taxes next week and assume that new Sage won't be out till next tax year
.
Kids saw me posting image and made me take it down.
Here is link though...

I think they considered adding a system to trigger high voltage electrodes in the programmers' chairs whenever the refresh button was hit in order to increase productivity.

Unfortunately Apple already patented it....

Aloha,
Mike

Ummm... I think you are remembering that report backwards. It was to jolt the browser user who keeps hitting refresh in order to cut down on excessive bandwidth usage. I've heard some cable companies were considering it.

I think that's the "Power Boost" feature they keep advertising. The incapacitating electrical shock scrambles your short term memory making web pages seem to load lightning fast!

Even better, its free with your existing broadband connection!

Unhappy SageTV has lost one of his customers yesterday

... unfortunalty SageTV has lost one of his customers yesterday. A good friend of mine didn't want to wait any longer for SageTV Version 7 and switched to Windows Media Center. He was urgently waiting for native DVB-S2 / H264 / HDTV support and support for satellite radio. I couldn't stop him from going this way - once he was a great fan of SageTV and bought 2 HD 200, but the refusal to communicate any progress regarding SageTV Version 7 in combination with the missing of any new betas has driven him into the arms of Windows Media Center.

Seriously? What communication are you expecting? They have publicly said they are working on SageTV7. Not gonna say more until they are ready for a public beta. He might be just fine with Windows MC but if the "lack of any new betas" is bothering him with SageTV now, wait until he sees how often MS offers him new betas. Something like every 4 years or so...

Always sorry to see a fellow SageTV peer go, but cmon' - a second announcement of the new version wasn't going stop him from leaving.

Not to mention there's no guarantee he'd get any of the features he was waiting on in V7, unless there was some announcement I missed.

And will he switch back to Sage (or go to another app.) when WMC does not announce a new beta for several months?
