max number of files/folders?

My wife and i have a pretty large music collection, around 13,000 files. We've had some trouble getting the HD200 to display everything in our collection. (Finally got it working, but it was trial and error) Can anyone tell me the max number of folders, or files per folder that is allowed? should i ask this of Sage tech support? Not im running my unit stand alone, no Sage server

Unfortunately standalone mode only supports about 32,000 imported media items.

thank you.

this is not a problem, our collection is around 13,000. How did you find out this limit? the issue we had is that to get the unit to see all of our files, we had to do some folder/file re arranging, with no real idea of what we were doing. it was try and try again until we hit on a combination that works. What i'm hoping to find is some guidelines on files/folders, etc.

Some people tried importing huge libraries and reported, IIRC, and error displayed by the extender and Jeff (Narflex, the CTO) commented that yes there is a limit.

I hope they "fix" that issue someday, with video files it's not a big deal, but with music and pictures, 32k objects is not hard to hit.

I agree with all that you say. never got any errors, just when we went looking into our folders some files and some folders just weren't there. Took most of a day of re arranging and refreshing to get it right. Frustrating. I think i'm going to contact Sage support about this, although ive not heard back from them on the last issue i had.

Is the 32K limit the number of "titles" or the total number of files contained in your imported library? For example, if you have a ripped movie that is ~5 or so files does that count as 5 items, or 1?

I am really enjoying my new HD Theater!

I have never been able to get any further info on this. I can tell you that if you have too many songs in a folder the playlists don't seem to work correctly. The limit is somewhere between 850 and 1000. (1000 is too many, 850 works) I did contact Sage support about this but never got a response. I may try again after the holiday. Now that we've got all of this ironed out, we really enjoy the dingus
