HD PVR Audio Sync Issue
I am still having an issue with Audio Sync for shows recorded via the HD PVR. The audio gets more and more out of sync the longer the program. For 3 HR UFC PPVs it is like a badly dubbed movie by the end.
I have the HD PVR running the most current driversv - 1.5.6. I just recently reran the driver update, removed the HD PVR as a Video source and went back through re-adding it. I run Component Video and SPDIF Audio from my DirecTV H-21 HD Receiver which is set to output Dolby Digital. I feel like I am so close here and have just ordered my second HD PVR and DirecTV H-21 HD Box so I really hope I can get this figured out so I don't have to send the new toys back! ANY help would be greatly appreciated at this time. Thanks in advance for your help! |

I have just now started having this problem. It worked fine for a long time for me - using SPDIF audio from DirecTV. I used to compress to DVD Standard Play with AC3 after it would record - this way my kids MVP would play plus all our shows would commercial skip.
For some reason - it just started having issues - after months of no problems. It does however work fine on the HD100s... it's just when I do any sort of compression (or view natively on MVP). Not sure if it's the same issue you are seeing or not. I upgraded Sage to see if it would fix it and it hasn't. |

I'm also seeing this issue. I recently added a HD-PVR to my setup. I am using the Hauppauge 1.5.6 drivers and using component input and SP-DIF. When I watch shows recorded from the HD-PVR using a HD-200 the audio sync gets worse and worse as the show goes on.

BFisher & leadfoot, what REV # is your HD PVR? I just got a second HD PVR and hope to set it up soon and it is REV E1. My first HD PVR is a REV Csomething. Trying not to get hopes up too high but we'll see if the HD PVR REV update brings any help. Will let you know.

mine has actually "fixed" itself... I've had no issues since I posted this. Not sure what caused my issue... happened for a couple weeks and now appears to be gone. I'm wondering if maybe some of my trees are starting to cause an issue with DirecTV - but seems like it would be an all or nothing issue, not that audio would get off...
Mine is rev D2 |

I have the ever increasing audio sync problem with my HD-PVR E1 rev, recording from Dishnet using 211k receiver using latest 1.5.6 drivers. My SageTV server (6.4.8.184) version is a few revisions behind.
I also have a R5000. There is not an audio sync problem with the R5000. HD-PVR files which display the sync problem also display the problem when played in Win 7 Media Center. There was a thread here where people noted that switching between 720 and 1080 output on your receiver would change your problem from a stutter to a sync problem, Is that still the case? This audio sync problem makes my HD-PVR worthless.... http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?...57543#msg57543 Looks like I have to go to analog audio. Last edited by jerryt; 08-29-2009 at 11:01 AM. |

My audio sync problem from Dish VIP211K to HD-PVR, where the audio gets more and more out of sync as the video plays. Commonly called "Audio Drift".
Can be worked around by setting receiver to "PCM Only" (means Stereo only) in the Dolby Digital menu. Any other setting allowing Dolby Digital brings the audio drift problem back. This is even after removing optical audio cable and connecting with RCA jacks. This was all working mostly well before the receiver died. Had a small audio lag but it was tolerated. Currently the audio is over a second late with dolby digital. So my options are; Live with PCM only audio, Reload the HD-PVR software for the 25th time... RMA my E1 version HD-PVR... RMA the VIP211K receiver... Any advice?? Last edited by jerryt; 08-31-2009 at 06:28 AM. |

The audio sync problems I was having went away when I switched from the 1.5.6 driver I was using initially to the driver supplied on the CD that came with the HD-PVR. The CD version is 2.1A and the HD-PVR driver version is 1.0.5.301. Once I switched to the driver on the CD, all the audio sync problems went away and optical input is still working fine and I haven't had a lockup for at least a week. I have a Rev D2 HD-PVR. I'm running Sage 6.6.2.218 on my server.

What he said...
Quote:
Recently purchased and installed my HD-PVR - Optical output - Component - 1.5.6 driver I immediately experienced the gradually increasing audio lag issue that people are describing along with periodic (daily or more) capture errors. Dropping the output on my STB (Bell 6131) to 720p decreased the frequency of the capture errors to once every couple of days, and made the audio sync issue much better. Rolling back my driver to 1.0.5.301 (and leaving my output at 720p) seems to have completely eliminated both problems. Been running problem free (Knock wood!) for about 3 weeks solid now. |

You guys that went back to the old driver - are you running more than one HD-PVR?

It's locked upon me once more since then but its looking like I may have to roll back the driver to 1.0.5.301 which I was using on the old system. On that system it had been just about flawless. I can't recall the last time the HD-PVR locked up, but well over a month for sure. So I'll give this a few more days to see if it gets better, but if it doesn't then I'll roll back with no regrets. BTW, I'm using optical audio output, component, and the STB locked at 1080i.

I just purchased my second HD PVR and my second DirecTV H21 Receiver. I took out my first HD PVR (REV C1 I think), ran the HWCLEAR and installed the SW & Drivers that came with the new HD PVR, hooked up my original DirecTV H21 and things seem to be working well. I RMAed my first HD PVR back to hauppauge for "testing" as they put it. My second HD PVR is a REV E2 I think. I should have tried the old HD PVR after installing with the VER 2.3B install CD but didn't think about that before sending it off yesterday. Will let you know what Hauppauge's response it.

I'm running Windows 7, and just installed the "New native recording patch" BETA, and this has fixed my audio sync issue! Note that's BETA software, and only for Windows 7.

I downgraded to 1.0.5.301 (http://www.shspvr.com/ftp/download/w...5.301_whql.zip) and it solved my sync issues.

I was having the audio sync problem with 1.5.6 but only when there was dolby digital audio on a certain program. Programs in stereo were fine. I can not imagine how the "native recording patch" could fix Hauppauge's driver issues, but this is a great find. Last edited by jerryt; 09-10-2009 at 06:10 AM. |

Running 1.0.5.3, 1080i fixed, 5.1 ac3 i had upgraded to 1.0.5.6 AND lowered the delay_to_record property setting a couple months ago but downgraded back to 1.0.5.3 and restored the property setting back to 4000ms because something was causing my hdpvr to be unstable... at least daily resets. Just tried the 1.5.6 drivers again and so far so good. AV sync is right on. Now lets just hope its stable. I'm not messing with the delay_to_record this time
