Confused on installation/terminology

I'm sure this is simple but I'm just not quite getting it. After some struggles, I think I have my physical setup all working. I have 3 networked computers plus an Hp Mediasmart 485 (headless WHS NAS), an HD200, and HDHomerun. SageTV software is installed as an add-in in the NAS, the Homerun is installed there and they are all working together.

The questions:

1) Is the SageTV addin on the NAS just the service? or the full? or both? I didn't do a regular install onto the NAS but I seem to get the controls on the tv thru the HD200. I'm confused as to why, and what part of the program I am actually running. Do I do a regular install as well as the add-in? Is the client involved anywhere here?

2)Also confused on what the Sage client exactly is. I'm assuming I need to purchase the client to control the Sage software on the NAS from my desktop? and another for my wife's desktop? Or am I controlling NAS Sage through the WHS console?

As an example of question 2, I'd like to play music stored on the NAS through my stereo (hooked to the HD200), but pick songs while sitting at my desktop. Or schedule a recording onto the NAS from my desktop.

Thanks for the help.

1) The SageTV add-in is the full SageTV application running as a service. You DO NOT do a regular install on WHS. Just the add-in. And make sure you install java on WHS.
2) Think of WHS as your backend. It runs the SageTV service and talks to all the tuners. It is the program that gets your EPG and stores your recordings on WHS. You will use the Sage TV PC client to control SageTV and watch recordings, DVDs, music and photos. Sage Placeshifter is to be used on the PC and over the Internet to control Sage and watch recorded TV-over the Internet. HD Theater (HD200) is it's own hardware, self-contained client. Just plug it into your network, configure it and start watching your recordings.

I don't believe there is an easy way to start playback of media on a different client than where you are.. This feature MIGHT be available from the web ui (a seperate add-on to the Sage service), but I can't verify that right now. If you want to play music from the HD200, you need to browse and start playback WITH the HD200.

There is a mobile *web* app that is not iPhone specific. See:
