Re-installation Help

I'm running the very basic SageTV Media Center software, no servers enabled or anything. I decided to upgrade the HTPC box it's running on from older P4 based hardware to a nice new dual-core setup. Obviously it required a re-install of Windows XP, along with the SageTV software.

I have yet to do that step though, as I know from past experience that all of the info on my recorded programs disappears. My questions are this:

1) Is there any way to backup the recorded programs info, so they don't turn into just files in my media folder?

2) How can I re-import files to the Recorded Programs screen, if at all?

3) Is there any third-party plug-ins that can track all this for me?

Thank you for the help. Is there any way to import old recordings though, that don't show up in the current list? This is the third time I've re-installed actually, so I have previous files that are just that, media files. I assumed the filenames could pull some info based on the date/time/channel or something, but I don't see how.
