XPSp3+ SageTV + HD-PVR + ATI = occasional BSOD
Does anyone else have occasional BSOD from their HTPC?
I've noticed that once sage/hdpvr lock up, even though I can still move around, about 3 minutes after I end-task sagetv or if I try to shut down windows it will BSOD. Am I the only one? FYI: CoreTwo Quad 2.4ghz / Gigabyte EP45-DS3R Realtek SPDIF to Receiver / 2GB OCZ Ram / 260GB ATA133 System / 1TB SATA3 Sage NTFS 64k / Diamond ATI HD 3870 Catalyst 8.9+AVIVO+HDMI HD Audio / LG Blu Ray+DVDRW / Hauppauge HD PVR rev D1 / DirecTV H21+USB-Serial Remote. What is the stop code on your Blue Screen of Death? The stop code is the first number before the four numbers in the parenthesis. Sometimes there are solutions for certain stop codes.
In the past, when I had a Blue Screen of Dealth, I just go back to a previous image, before the stop codes started. The Blue Screen of Death is then fixed and does not come back. If you do not have an image, which you should have to recover, then you may need to start over from scratch, reinstalling everything, starting with the operating system. Take periodic images during the installation to a USB hard drive. If the Blue Screen comes back, then maybe you will know what patch or software is causing it. You then don't have to re-start the installation process over again from scratch. Once the computer has everything installed and is working normally, take another image. Keep taking images periodically, maybe once a month, storing them on a normally detached USB hard drive. You will then be able to recover easily if the Blue Screen of Death ever happens again. Dave |

I have had no luck using AVIVO. My system becomes pretty unstable when I use that decoder. You might want to try something else.

How do you tell if you're using AVIVO?
