Timing is wrong
I've had this problem for quite a while now. There is always a show I record weekly that has it's timing wrong one time out of two. When I watch it, each second of the show adds up 2 seconds to the timer, so in the end, I can only watch the first 20 minutes.
Very annoying. And it always happens on the only show that I really, really want to watch. What can I do about this? ![]() Thanks

Check the actual recorded file to see if the video is actually just 20 minutes.

Looks like others may be having a similar problem. |

The files are always complete, I am watching it right now on my PC using MPC. I have to say I would prefer to be seating in my living room right now!

VideoReDo Quickstream Fix can correct the problem in existing recordings.
Preventing it from happening in the first place is going to depend on your capture device. For ATSC, QAM, or satellite sources, sometimes the bad timing is already present in the digital stream sent out by the broadcaster.

This just happened to me for the second week in a row
I recorded House on my HDHomerun and have had this problem for the last two weeks. I also had a problem last week with Terminator (the show, not the movie). I haven't seen it with any other recordings yet. I just recently upgraded to 6.4 to use the HD-PVR, and I also switch to FIOS.
So it could be that: 1) Sage is more susceptible to the problem in 6.4 2) Verizon Clear QAM is more susceptible to this (some signal quality issue) 3) Or FOX is doing something that makes this more likely In the other thread listed, shortyjacobs said that it was largely a FOX issue, and it has only happed to me on FOX shows. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if they are trying to intentionally break QAM recorders. FOX also has their own show download site; I wonder if they are trying to push traffic there also. If they are intentionally doing this, I wonder how long before other stations try it. I think I will look at the signal quality and strength of FOX channels compared to the others to try to rule that out, but I've seen no signal degradation or picture break up. I don't really want to post process recordings, so I think I may just have to remove FOX from my ClearQAM lineup on my HDHomerun, and rely on my HD-PVR to capture those shows. But for those of you who own VideoReDo, can it be automated to do the "Quickstream Fix"? Can it be lauched from the command line to just execute and go away? If not, is there any command line utility out there that can fix this? Last edited by mc2wheels; 02-24-2009 at 07:17 AM. Reason: fixed bad typos |

VRD has a COM interface that you can program from VBScript or JScript. So, yes, it can be automated via script launched from the command line (or from the Dynamic Menus plugin).
Regarding the conspiracy theory, my impression (perhaps mistaken) is that it has more to do with how clumsy your local Fox affiliate is at splicing commercials into the network feed.

An actual interface!!!
I had no idea. Perhaps I will have to get VRD. I like actual programming solutions... that's what I do. I would have been happy with being able to invoke it without a GUI. Thanks. Maybe I can try to play with it this weekend.
Still, I wonder why I never saw this before. If it is the local affiliate, how come I never saw it before I switched to FIOS/upgraded sage. AFAIK, I think I am getting the same commercials on the QAM channel that I used to get.

The Registry tweak found at http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...574#post257574 did the trick! After a few weeks, I can confirm that my show that would always get screwed up is now recording properly.
Thanks!
