timing wrong- ending of shows always missing?

is there any way I can set a "global" buffer of, say, 5 minutes (at the end, or both the beginning and end of a program)?

it really sort of sucks that I don't end up seeing the last few minutes of everything I record.

Some of the 3rd part STVs allow you to set "default" paddings that will do this for you.

Of course if the recordings are FAVORITES, you would still have to go back and fix them all individually.

All new recordings would have a default padding if you got one of those STVs (Cayars, etc).

is there anything more, er, lightweight? I'm not looking to change a ton of things, just to stop this minor annoyance..

I'm surprised it isn't a regular setting

Cayars: I haven't followed this that closely, but isn't your default padding just for new favs? Or, does it cover Manual Recordings too? (Somehow I doubt that it covers Intelligent Recordings.)

disgust: you can manually set padding for all your favorites (permanent setting for those favs) or for individual Manual Recordings. But, currently, there is no global setting to add padding to ALL recordings, including Intelligent Recordings.

is there any reason why you're only able to adjust in 15 minutes? 15 minutes on the start and end doubles the size of a 30 minute show..

I believe Cayars already replied to this in the other thread, but you are missing a set of buttons. One set does 15 minute increments, the other does 1 minute increments. There is a manual in your SageTV directory & this proces is described in a couple places: For favorites, see p. 60-61 of the v2.1 manual.

I could have it do manual recordings but I elected to not do this. I'm trying to keep Manual being well "manual". I figured it I start touching it then it's only semi-manual.

I created a patch STV (also known as an import module) to add default padding to all new manual recordings and new favourites...

Yep, if you are trying to stay "light" then Niel's patch it the way to go.

I'm sorry I didn't mention that earlier!

I forgot about that import too. One of favorite Far Side cartoons is the one with the kid in the classroom:

Have you checked that your PC's time is accurate?
